Yes, you click on the photo attachment and copy the URL shown and then edit your post by using 'Insert image URL' button (the one with the mountains and the sun), pasting in the URL you copied.

Does that make sense?

If you mean a picture from the web you follow moo's instructions above but make sure the address you put in is the full address to the picture itself.

If it's a file on your computer you first attach as a file then when that is posted, right click and copy the URL/address and go back to moo's instructions again

Boom

One should actually have written 'Moos's instructions'. As in Bridget Jones's Diary....a handy populist reference to keep you on track there Mr Jack.

I had as little trouble with this at first too - the easiest way is to right click the image you want, select 'view image info' and a box will appear headed 'page info' with many lines of URLs including the one relating to your image which should be highlighted. Simply copy this then return to your post, select the 'insert image URL' button, delete the http:// it starts with and paste in the line you copied from the 'page info' window. Voila!

Although be aware that by doing this (described by maxxi) anyone who clicks into the thread will be using the bandwidth of the person who is hosting the image. Can be a problem if it's a personal website or personally hosted image. Used to be considered very poor "netiquette" to do this, esp if the end result is that you massively increase the host's bandwidth. Not sure if it is considered the same now?

All other forums I regularly participate have a clear ban on hotlinking, you must host the image yourself. {Edited to say they're all techie forums and probably have had that rule in place for ages, so may not be relevant to something like the EDF}

On my own pics (rather than those I find on line) I use MS Office Picture Manager (r click image and select edit option, 'resize' then tick 'predefined width and height' box and choose 'web large' in drop-down menu. This changes a typical pic from say 2.8MB to 125KB.

Under the video on youtube, there will be an option to "share". Click that, and further options will appear, one of which is "embed". Click that, and some code will appear l. Copy the code, and paste it un to your post on here, and hey presto, the video should appear.
