Kalimiphile: what do you get by clicking this, [www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk], the URL for User Profile : Kalamiphile?

Or this, [www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk], ditto for View all posts by Kalamiphile?

Nothing comes up as I click on my username, if I log out and click on username it brings up 6 posts, not the hundreds others find

Did you click on the links that ianr provided? What happened?

It's important that you click specifically on the links that ianr provided - NOT your username, and NOT the search tool. JUST the links that ianr provided.

Can you tell us what browser you are using? Have you tried clearing your cache (internet history) recently?

The reason you're being asked to do that is to ascertain whether there's a problem with your browser and the 'query string' that delivers the information back to you from the server.

It looks very much as if it's a problem at your end rather than the server, because the problem is only happening to you.

If you do clear your browser history remember to restart your browser afterwards (close it down then open again).

Yes, have done all that you said, clicking on links, and have cleared history, which makes me think it is my end. Thing is it also happened at work. Guess as I can bring some stuff up now by going in logged out, better than nothing smiling smiley

What happened when you clicked those links? What did you see?

Too many people not putting Sold in the subject line but instead adding onto their post which brings it up to the top again rather pointlessly. Ok, great that your item has sold but we don't all need to know about it.

Just took me to a blank page with EDF details at top

The report of it happening at work too sounds odd, unless you're relying upon some sort of cloud thing for your personal files. So does the reported difference between outcomes when logged in or out. But I'd be mildly surprised if clearing your browser's memory cache (NOT the same as Browsing History, which is simply a list of URLs) and maybe cookies (at least those for eastdulwichforum.co.uk) didn't resolve it. Or for diagnostics try another type of browser, if you have one installed or feel like doing do. Or using a different user account on your home machine.

How strange if I go to Firefox everything works ok. As I don't even know about clouds apart from those that drop stuff on us, I guess you can imagine I am doing everything at a basic level. But will now log in from Firefox! Many thanks for all help x

Voting polls?

Used for things like who does the best roast, fry up, etc.

Would make decisions like where to take my hangover easier.

Can someone please tell me how to feature the red "NEW" when posting new messages as it never shows up for me. I have sent emails to the forum before asking for help but never got a reply so please help.

Cheers

You will never see it beside messages that you post, but others will.

messageRe: Suggestions for this forum
Posted by El Pibe 01 April, 2014 14:22

new tells you there are unread posts in a thread. if you read the thread it dissappears until new ones are posted.
They should be blue in threads you read and ed in threads you don't (though this is i think governed by cookies on your local bropwser).

If they're not showing at all, then perhaps you have a javascript issue? Try with another browser.

messageRe: Suggestions for this forum
Posted by El Pibe 01 April, 2014 14:23

oh, and due to a bug in the forum software, read messages are sometimes reported as unread after threads are moved between areas.

Is there any way that you can change the order of messages so that the newest appear at the top thus avoiding scrolling to the last page to read the most up to date posts?

messageRe: Suggestions for this forum
Posted by Administrator 23 April, 2014 20:57

Hi ortuke, it's not possible I'm afraid but you can click on "Last Post by xxx" and that will take you to the last post. Or you can click on the red "new" and that will take you to the first post in the list that you you've not seen.
