Food documentary casting call

We want to explore modern Britain?s relationship with food. Do you cook for your household? We want to hear from you!

Food plays an important role in our lives - what we eat, when we eat, and who we eat with is a huge part of what makes up our day to day living. We?re looking for stories from all across the UK, from all different households. We want to hear from people who eat together as a house, and hear about what role food plays in your life. You don?t have to be a professional foodie, just someone who cares about eating, and makes the time to cook. Perhaps you sit down to a big meal and touch base with your family every Sunday, maybe you live in a house share and have a rota for who cooks the communal meal, possibly you have a large circle of friends and you love to host and try out new recipes. Whatever your story, if you enjoy cooking and sharing food with your friends and/or family, we?d love to speak to you and hear about your life.

This is for a series of short films we are making for a British supermarket to help them understand their customers better. At this stage we're just looking to chat to people on the phone. For the final films we?d love to film people cooking at home, and talking about their relationship with food. Everyone involved in the final films will have their food shop compensated.

This is why I asked my question. This sounds like advertising for the supermarket in question (for which the filmmakers are being paid). Clients pay on average ?60 for a couple of hours of peoples time to take part in research/ focus groups. They are never turned into short films - why would they be? If a business wants to understand its customer base better, it employs a research company.

Is the end aim to make a series of adverts for the supermarket? And if so, participants should be paid just as they would be for any commercial. Would help if the OP returned to the thread to clarify.

Not true. This is a type Ethnographic research and is quite widely used in research and is NOT advertising...still shouldn't be in lounge tho

it's "customer closeness" - by seeing how people use/relate to "food" more generally, in their own words and lives, rather than in a focus group/survey - clients hope to gain insights to how to market to them...as an ethnographic researcher might say :)

    • You can request for them to come and collect your full bins again https://forms.southwark.gov.uk/ShowForm.asp?fm_fid=1879 They usually come on whatever day your rubbish/recycling collection day is. If you aren't going to be in, leave them somewhere that they can find it. If you don't need replacements, just leave a note on the full ones that a replacement isn't needed.  They usually come quite early, so it's better to leave them outside if you can.
    • Just wondering- what were they arrested for? If you remember
    • Cyclists certainly do have a bit of a perception problem at the moment and when I cycle I see a lot of examples of arrogance and ignorance that gives all cyclists a bad name - it does seem that many cyclists have caught the entitlement bug many drivers seem to have.
    • But Spartacus didn't mention the significant amounts of land being used for car storage - that was most definitely you.   And I am afraid when you apply your same measure to other transport uses (like cycleways and cycle lanes - Malumbu is your stat on the 360 kms of cycle network cycleways or cycle lanes?) then it most definitely is relevant for the debate.   Should we assume then that if all this ULEZ money and government bailout money is being poured into TFL then the system is, financially at least, broken or is it a case that the money is being mis-spent (like the DV junction project)?
