Commemorative Coins

I recently ordered a battle of ypres coin. It is free if you pay the postage (?2.50). When ordering I was offered about ten other coins that had to be paid for, but chose the "free" one as I liked the design.

I was just wondering if these coins have any long term value? Do they become collectibles? Anyone collect them?

Most of these types of offers, plates, models, etc don't have any long term value. Your free offer is made in the hope you'll go on to buy more.Buy because you like it, not for profit and you won't be disappointed

When the Euro came in, the Dutch government - knowing the thrifty Dutch ways - gave everyone a set of Euro coins to encourage adoption during the transition phase. I've got two sets, never unwrapped; hoping they're going to be worth something when Merkel realises that abandoning the single currency could restore a sense of sovereignty and avoid the total breakup/down of the EU.*

*Possibly.
