messageCrown and Greyhound NY Eve - ticketed?

Does anyone know if it's normal entry to the pub or are they doing tickets? Can't see anything on their website.

Have no idea, But the thought of that pub being able to charge people to get in would be a shock to me.

No Way is it charging (although no proof)

That's a possibility then. The only real attractions the Crown & Greyhound has for me are a short walk home and surprisingly excellent chips.

I suppose some people might buy tickets to experience the 'slowest bar service in the world'....

And tonight "it takes years to get served in here" could actually be true.

Went to house of tippler earlier

5 entry

Good music

Waste of time

Never again!

This is me going out after a good few years.... Thought it'd be a good night out..... Hell no

I tried the Nuns Head and it was fine even though I didn't normally like NYE much - helps that you could drink outside - didn't go out until 10:30 PM and still seem hung over.

What was the problem with House of Tippler? why a waste of time? Just curious, but dont particularly like the place.

It's always a good idea to keep a list of the free entry pubs on NYE just in case it doesn't work out for one reason or another. 5 is actually just the price of a pint - but that's not my issue with tickets.

Probably no more than about 40 people in there,
Absolutely no effort made by the bar as it was a "special" NYE night.....

To be honest it seems like the lane has gone quite downhill for nights out
I used to go nearly every weekend about 10 yrs ago, the vibe has completely changed!
I generally pass through the lane on weekends & find it nowhere near to how busy it used to be!

I have to say liquorice was my favourite place back then!

To be honest, without going into details I went out by accident.
It's been at least 8yrs since I celebrated NYE away from my home.

I guess I just expected a bit more excitement! Lol

The fiver weren't too bad to pay, but not for a dead night!

I went there about 11.30pm, by 12.30 am I was back home!

I can't see that happening again in a hurry, next year I'll probably snuggle up to my duvet!

Peckham's emergence has hit the LL bar scene quite hard I think. People under approx 40 go out there from ED.

LL is decent for eating, but not much has chnaged on the bar scene for quite some time.

I think you could be right about that!

When I was telling my friend about my night she suggested I should've gone to prince of Peckham....
Saying that I'm definitely over 40 but my mind tells me I'm still in my 20's! 😎😜

Lordship Lane was sort of a mini destination a few years ago, and it was pretty buzzy on a Friday and Saturday night... but not really these days. Partly because Peckham has so much more going on, but also I reckon because of the nature of people who tend to move to ED. People in their 40s with kids. Not many carefree 20/30 somethings.

I'm guessing that was written by someone who's never been to the West Norwood Picturehouse. In an organisation with a proud tradition of slow and poor service, they stand out as lowering the standard.
