185

Thanks to the lovely people who spat at one my colleagues on the 185 last Saturday. From what I understand they either hailed the bus too late or were running and he didn't notice them in time to pull up. He then pulled up at the next stop and waited for them then they treated him like this. As a result he had to take is spit kit to Lewisham Police Station for checking DNA samples and so then whole journey from Dulwich to Victoria was cut. Then I got the blame from passengers for being late although I knew none of this until later. Lets hope its not like that tomorrow when I am on 185 again. Oh and I do know Angry Nigel!!!!!

Hope they catch the spitters although not entirely sure what they'll be able to charge them with? Would it be classed as assault? Can they ban them from buses? I've been spat at once and it was a horrible experience.

It's always surprised me how much some people get riled up at the next bus driver to show up after a long wait. Since it's highly unlikely to be his fault (it's more likely to be a bus broken down, traffic or some other incident), why start ranting at the poor sod who is now actually going to get you home/to work/to shops?

I don't expect they will be caught although the CCTV will be downloaded as to my knowledge it is assault. I was somewhat bemused when the lady at Goose Green said to me "and where have you been" because I didn't know the bus in front was missing and I was bang on time.

Be kind to me tomorrow if you are planning to use the 185.

I know of one person who was imprisoned for spitting at a tram driver, it is common assault and the penalty is quite high, having said that it is a disgusting thing to do to a person. However if somebody is antagonistic there are insults that are far more cutting and you cant get done for it as far as I know, although I am not a violent person I can get agitated by other peoples disrespect nit picking and if they are being unreasonable I might say something very nasty especially to traffic wardens.

You know, just a hunch, but I reckon beaver14uk isn't his real name ; )

Quite a few London bus drivers have blogs which fly pretty close to the wind, it's a good thing. (http://buncha-eastlondonbus.blogspot.com/ springs to mind))

I'm sorry but I have to disagree that Nigel is a nice person. He is a bully and gets a kick out of intimidating passengers. Why does he have a bicycle chain tied around the door to the driver's cab? Why does he have to sound the emergency siren everytime he passes another 185 bus en route?

Val Shawcross is currently investigating my complaint about this dreadful driver. He should have been sacked years ago.

He is protecting revenue at the end of the day. The more people escape paying their fares the more you will end up footing the bill - clearly you are happy to do that. I suspect that he chains himself in because he challenges passengers more than others. As for sounding the alarm no he shouldn't really do it - but if thats all you have to worry about I think its really sad. I can't see him getting sacked for doing his job.

What about the two old ladies whom he shouted at which I reported on this site? I complained to TfL who told me that they had passed it on to East Thames Buses and since then nothing. Do you think it was alright for him to verbally abuse a 90 year old and her partially sighted friend? Is that doing his job?

If true no its not alright but as I wasn't there I can't really comment. I do know from reading the posts that some things clearly do not relate to him i.e. he wears an earing he used to be on the N12 I think that some people have muddled him up with someone else. What I do think was out of order is placing somebodys photogragh on a public website.

were these old ladies wearing disguises ? how do we know they were 90 and partially sighted....it sounds like a classic OAP ruse to me....one made me carry her shopping out of sainsbury's to her car the other day next thing i knew she was loading all her humbugs and mini bottles of whiskey in a rucksack hitching up her skirt and leaped aboard a green Kawasaki Ninja she had parked up at the end of the car park....she even flicked me the bird as she sped away...cheeky layabout

Nigel is always angry and grumpy. He is a bully and gets a buzz out of intimidating and bullying vulnerable passengers. There is currently an inquiry underway regarding his behaviour.

Why does he have a strong bicycle chain wrapped around the door of the driver's cab? One can only suspect this is to avoid someone ripping his head off when he attempts to bully the wrong person!!

    • what is the status of your company? is it formally closed, yet the bank account is open? How are you planning on extracting the funds from the company account?  Do you have your emails from a personal email account? Is there any indication that it is a business sale, other than a business bank account - did you tell them it was a business bank account - does the bank account you gave them have a different name?
    • Can anyone help / offer advice, please? I just sold a fairly rare and quite valuable vintage knitting machine and accessories to a business as a private sale to a business. It's run a couple who specialise in repairing and reselling secondhand knitting machine parts. I tested the machine and accessory prior to selling and both were working. The business has just texted me with a fairly aggressive message to say 'it can't be working as part of it is missing' and that the pattern reading accessory does not work. I know that both parts were working when I handed them over, so it is just their word against mine. (I haven't replied to ask what part is missing yet) When they arrived to pick up, the owner said he needed to do 'due diligence' ie to open the case of the machine and check it was all there. He did all that and did not mention anything was missing at that point. They paid by bank transfer on pickup. Unfortunately for me, I got them to pay into my business ac (even though I no longer run a business and am retired, I still have the account) and now they say because they paid to a business ac they can dispute the payment. I did get them to sign a delivery note with a list of items that they were buying  but I did not specify 'bought as seen' on the note. How does it work when it's one person's word against another? I originally found the business online and emailed them with the details and photos. They had good reviews for selling items (but no reviews re: buying items) The owner always replied by phone rather than email so although I have notes of our conversations I do not have anything in writing from him. I'm feeling angry at having trusted them and also upset - textile design was my career before I retired and I wish I'd just given the machine to a charity now1 Any helpful advice much appreciated!
    • There are several threads on here about door to door sellers with similar false stories, but I don't know what the thread headings were or how to find them. Someone else may have a better memory! No idea who to contact, possibly the police non urgent number, can't remember what it is, sorry.
    • My objection is that it is an Americanism. Spoken id prefer Mon to Thurs. In writing Mon - Thurs.
