Ahh always thought Bobby Vee was lot older than me and already passed away! Mum and Dad had some of his 45s which have been passed down and I know all the words. Remember singing along to Pete at the time too in his heyday. God bless to both of them for making such great music.

Cohen being only miserable is such a pernicious canard. He explored every part of the human psyche, and that includes its darkest corners, but he also wrote some incredibly uplifting songs, especially about love and relationships. Check out any of his interviews and you'll find an incredibly witty, charming and intelligent man with a wonderful warmth to him.

It's coming from the sorrow in the street
The holy places where the races meet
From the homicidal bitchin'
That goes down in every kitchen
To determine who will serve and who will eat.

Basically the whole US election in five lines. Genius.

A quick google of 'Fidel castro' turns up loads of photos of him hanging out with Gaz from Supergrass. I hadn't realised the band were so political.
