Eccles cakes anyone ?

I think its great that the half a conservative MP in the area, Toby Ecclesburger now has one ear trumpet in parping distance from the corridors of power. So this year at the Dulwich fair we will mostly be seeing a renaissance of plaid, jam tasting little britain stylee and a very special live televised celebrity politician make over, with special guest John Major who with the help of genius speech writer Gok Wan will turn John from cricket green and warm beer conservative into acoustic strumming , folk twirling , VW toureg driving ECO warrior , ban the bomb ( some time down the line, well off the table completely really) all singing all dancing Liberal !

Its a must, tickets on sale soon for 1old Pound .

Pepernoten* anyone?

http://suikerwijzer.nl/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/pepernoten1-300x288.jpg

*Note round plate

Recept voor Pepernoten - Ingredienten

125 gram bloem

125 gram zelfrijzend bakmeel

80 gram bruine basterdsuiker

2 eetlepels water

1 mespuntje zout

1 eierdooier

1 theelepel speculaaskruiden

1/2 theelepel kaneel

1 mespuntje gemalen anijszaad

Bereiding

Does this make more sense? (tu)

Y-es it can be dangerous actually especially if you're trying to be good - its way too tempting if you follow those instructions. I hope this makes sense ;-)

So you're not rich then

I'd recommend buying an AGA , then plonking a microwave on top

( much better IMHO )

Oh zounds Woof, you beat me to it.

jenny, just because you're too poor to afford an Aga, don't come on here ranting about spinelessness - try a Rayburn instead.

And if you're all about the deliciousness, they do a frightfully good bone marrow salad at St John

Oh RosieH - you have reminded me of a blast from the past, my nana had a rayburn (my mums family lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere - I'm sure those cookers would not have featured in countrylife magazine back then).

St. John also do a good risotto milanese made with bone marrow (as it should be).

jenny1840 dear - I haven't set foot in the (Lord) Palmerston since I took my mum and her husband there about 10+ years ago (visiting a friend from ED)

You sound more 'ED' than me TBH, I mean, do "they" 'do' salad in the Palmerston in 2010 then?

*dying to know*

**not really**

S? What S?

And if I'd meant Bread and Wine, I would have said Bread and Wine. If you're going to be a pedant, get your pedantry right.

(subject of which, it's "try to", not "try and...", and don't get me started on your / you're)

    • Hi, I have a few filled and empty sharps bins to dispose of. My GP has filled out a form for the council and they've come to us while we were away, left two large sharps bins and no instructions. Would any of you know what to do? In the meantime I've gained another two empty sharps bins to add to my collection... Many thanks
    • I asked the same question in this forum a few months ago, as my wife wanted to learn to drive but was quite nervous after having had sessions with someone very stressful.  The recommendation we saw most often was Silvano, which she's been very happy with and who has helped her build her confidence. You can read more recommendations for him here
    • door to door selling has been around for years. It is not illegal.
    • They are not from 'rehabilitation schemes'. There are no such schemes that sell door-to-door. I have checked this myself with the probation services and been told by them that it's a scam. Trading Standards say: “Don’t deal with cold callers. Full stop. At the most innocent, they’re selling overpriced goods. At the more sinister end, they're assessing the potential for more serious crimes". It wouldn't hurt to report to the non-emergency number, 101. As Sandyman says, the police may use the information to direct future resources.
