The Office (US Version)

Before you all get Ray Winstone on me about how the UK one is much better and how the Americans forced us into war with the Middle East. I just recently discovered this show, avoiding to watch it for some time. Bored of my seinfeld dvd's, I decided to buy the box set of the US version.

Oh my freaking Lord. It is so awesome. I love it I love I love it. DWIGHT is LOLZ.

(and..relax)

Anyone else agree? I'm on season 3 at the moment, can't wait to rampage on the rest. My winter months have been planned out. I shall be watching this over and over again. This is the funniest, smartest American television show in recent history besides Arrested Development. Not since Seinfeld has a show made me laugh so hard and smile so much. These three shows get better with each viewing and are great because there's so many levels of humor, from the apparent outrageousness to the minute details that are noticed after repeated viewings and are often funnier than the surface material.

That makes a change, American version of our comedy programmes actualy works from what you are saying as in the past Amercian versions of anything we produce can be dismal or patronizing and trying to sell it back to us as there own ideasB)

I quite like the US version of the Office. It's not as funny or cringeworthy as the original, and it's definitely been quite heavily modified for the American audience, but it's still entertaining (much more so than the majority of Steve Carell's movie roles).

The first few episodes were pretty much straight from existing UK scripts. After that, they got their own writers in and it changed for the better. Apparently Steve Carell is leaving, though, so the series may or may not go on.

    • Can't help thinking that regardless of whether Joe wanted to be interviewed, the 'story' that Southwark News wanted to write just got a lot less interesting with 'tyre shop replaced with ... tyre shop'!
    • Labour are proposing to nationalise the railways, (passenger trains but not fright)  Whilst it removes them from shareholders control, and potential profit chasing, is it workable or will it end up costing tax payers more in the long run?  On paper the idea is interesting but does it also need the profitable freight arm included to help reduce fares,?
    • Another recommendation here for Jason.  He came to plaster over a section of ceiling that we had to remove in order to investigate a leak.  He is a really lovely guy, easy to get in touch with and great communication.  He was quick, tidy and competitively priced.  Very happy and I'd have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone.
