Let's Have A Seasonal Sing-Song

Oh the weather outside is frightful,

But the fire is so delightful,

And since we've no place to go,

All together now...

Let It Adverse Weather Conditions! Let It Adverse Weather Conditions! Let It Adverse Weather Conditions!

It doesn't show signs of stopping,

And I've bought some corn for popping,

The lights are turned way down low,

Everyone...

Let It Adverse Weather Conditions! Let It Adverse Weather Conditions! Let It Adverse Weather Conditions!

When we finally kiss goodnight,

How I'll hate going out in the storm!

But if you'll really hold me tight,

All the way home I'll be warm.

The fire is slowly dying,

And, my dear, we're still good-bying,

But as long as you love me so,

Come now...BIIIIG finish...

Let It Adverse Weather Conditions! Let It Adverse Weather Conditions! Let It Adveweeeeerse Weeeeeeaaaaather Conddddiiiiitiiiiooooons!

Good King Wenceslas looked out

On the feast of Stephen

When the adverse weather conditions lay round about

Deep and crisp and even

Brightly shone the moon that night

Though the (adverse) weather conditons were cruel

When a poor man came in sight

Gath'ring winter fuel

"Hither, page, and stand by me

If thou know'st it, telling

Yonder peasant, who is he?

Where and what his dwelling?"

"Sire, he lives a good league hence

Underneath the mountain

Right against the forest fence

By Saint Agnes' fountain."

"Bring me flesh and bring me wine

Bring me pine logs hither

Thou and I will see him dine

When we bear him thither."

Page and monarch forth they went

Forth they went together

Through the cold winds wild lament

And the adverse weather (conditions).

"Sire, the night is darker now

And the wind blows stronger

Fails my heart, I know not how,

I can go no longer."

"Mark my footsteps, my good page

Tread thou in them boldly

Thou shalt find the winter's rage

Freeze thy blood less coldly."

In his master's steps he trod

Where the adverse (weather) conditions lay dinted

Heat was in the very sod

Which the Saint had printed

Therefore, Christian men, be sure

Wealth or rank possessing

Ye who now will bless the poor

Shall yourselves find blessed.

PS I'm singing along ...

In the bleak latter part of the year

Unseasonal Siberian winds made moan,

Earth stood hard as iron,

Water like a stone;

Adverse weather conditions had fallen, adverse weather conditions on adverse weather conditions,

Adverse weather conditions on adverse weather conditions,

In the bleak latter part of the year,

Long ago.

Frosty the Adverse Weather Conditions man

Was a jolly happy soul

With a corncob pipe and a button nose

And two eyes made out of coal

Frosty the Adverse Weather Conditions man

Is a fairytale they say

He was made of Adverse Weather Conditions

But the children know

How he came to life one day

Frosty the Adverse Weather Conditions man

Was alive as he could be

And the children say

He could laugh and play

Just the same as you and me

Frosty the Adverse Weather Conditions man

Had to hurry on his way

But he waved goodbye

Saying don't you cry

I'll be back again some day

Thumpety thump thump

Thumpety thump thump

Look at Frosty go

Thumpety thump thump

Thumpety thump thump

Over the hills of Adverse Weather Conditions

I saw three trains come chugging in

On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;

I saw three trains come chugging in

On Christmas Day in the morning.

And what was in those trains all three,

On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day?

And what was in those trains all three,

On Christmas Day in the morning?

A tramp, some cans and the Metro were there,

On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;

A tramp, some cans and the Metro were there,

On Christmas Day in the morning.

Pray, wither chugged those trains all three?

On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;

Pray, wither chugged those trains all three?

On Christmas Day in the morning?

O they chugged their way into London Bridge,

On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;

O they chugged their way into London Bridge,

On Christmas Day in the morning.

And all the bells in ED shall ring,

On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;

And all the bells in ED shall ring,

On Christmas Day in the morning.

And why should the bells in ED all ring?

On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;

And why should the bells in ED all ring?

On Christmas Day in the morning.

Coz they're aint gonna be any sodding trains,

On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;

Coz they're aint gonna be any sodding trains,

On Christmas or any damn bleeding day!

So may as well just get used to it,

On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;

So may as well just get used to it,

And simply rejoice: Happy Christmas Day.

    • I found this post after we just had to throw away £14 of chicken thighs from Dugard in HH, and probably for the 3rd time. They were roasted thoroughly within an hour of purchase. But they came out of the oven smelling very woofy.  We couldn't take a single bite, they were clearly off. Pizza for dinner it is then. Very disappointing.
    • interesting read.  We're thinking about the same things for our kids in primary school as well. One thing I don't understand about Charter ED is whether they stream / set kids based on ability.  I got the impression from an open evening that it is done a little as possible. All i could find on-line was this undated letter - https://www.chartereastdulwich.org.uk/_site/data/files/users/18/documents/9473A8A3547CCCD39DBC4A55CA1678DC.pdf?pid=167 For the most part, we believe in mixed ability teaching and do not stream in Year 7 or Year 8. The only exceptions to this are that we have a small nurture class for Maths. This is a provision for students who scored lower than 85 in their SATS exams and is designed to support them to acquire the skills to access the learning in mainstream class. We do not have nurture classes for any other subjects. We take a more streamed - though not a setted - approach in Maths and Science from Year 9 onwards. though unsure if this is still accurate reflection of policy, and unsure of difference between streaming and setting.
    • Hello, I'm looking for an entertainer for my 9 year old son's birthday party. Looking for someone who can organise some games for the kids as my son and his friends are quite active. Regards, Sue
    • My son’s primary school hatched duck eggs, probably under this scheme around 12 years ago.  We were all very upset to hear that 2 of the (5 year old) boys had knocked the incubator over & all eggs smashed.   feeling a lot less sad about that now!
