Has texting gone too far?

I'm finding it increasingly annoying that people I would have considered good friends want to "chat" via text. If life is too busy to prevent us from having eye contact , then should we at least hear the sound of eachothers voices? what do you think?

That's very true Mac. There are plenty of people I know, girls mostly who spend most of their time chatting on Facebook. In a smaller way I too can be accused of this. I do get a bit fed up with text and when I swap a few I quickly get bored and just phone the other person up. It's so much quicker that way. To talk that is. And again I'd much rather be talking face to face.
