Incongruity

For instance, I sometimes see a guy riding up Dartmouth Road on a bike, smoking a fag and smiling.

Then yesterday, I saw an old guy pushing his own wheel chair up the hilly bit of LSL, then getting back in it at the top to carry on wheeling himself by hand.

Both of these "visions" as incongruous as they are, filled me with absolute joy.

Why is that ?

Do you see such things, if so do tell.

Nette:))

( if not, just p*ss off and read another thread )

There's really nothing odd or incongruous about this though! Wheeling uphill is very tiring. Clearly he has some use of his legs and finds it easier and (probably) invaluable exercise to use the chair as a walking frame when manoeuvring uphill: then into the chair to rest the old legs when back on the flat...

And thus was born the idea of the recumbent coffin bike, shortly followed by that of the camper coffin bike.

Jeez..

Lighten up SimonM. I've seen a dwarf riding a pony on the Isle of Sheepey and then on the same road a woman in an electric wheel chair with a parrot on her shoulder.

Water of a ducks back to you no doubt SimonM. But I notice these things, In fact I revel in them, whereas you live in a sedated world breathing the staled air of boredom and monotony.

Get out more before it's too.....

Oh who cares about you, this thread is about ME.

Oh & ianr is trying at least.

Sounds like one of the Government's 'Fit for Work' tests to weed out the work shy.

Of course Polly D.

That is exactly what i'm looking for, if only there were more girlz like us!

I spotted a teenage girl walking to school aided by a single crutch. When a bus came she popped the crutch under her arm and ran like crazy to get on board.

( there seems to be a medical theme developing here )

There's a bike completely covered in blue and white sticky tape that's been locked to a cycle stand at Camberwell Green for the last few weeks. An 'installation' by the art students up the road, perhaps?

Anyway, makes me smile.

Last week I talked to someone in a branch of Santander who offered to help and then politely sorted out a problem for me. Does that count? Mind you, I had to speak to two other people, cry and mention my blood pressure first.

Yep, aiming high that one so she can claim 'the sick' when she leaves school.

God is looking down on me, of that i'm sure

Does it get any better than a mohawked paunchy old Punk, sitting listening to a man wearing brothel creepers, playing the bag pipes?

Oh, if only the dwarf from the Isle of Sheepey could have ridden by on her pony.

Now that would have been perfect.

Pshaw! Were you not such an arriviste you'd perhaps be able to recall that a while back I reported on here as having seen a pink hearse (empty!) gliding along Forest Hill Road...Now that was incongruous! :))

IF somehow you've been trapped in a cultural bell jar. Then this wonderful life-like " Jacko " sculpture is located at:

Fulham Premier League Football Club

Craven Cottage

Stevenage Road

London

SW6 6HH

... you'll probably be hoping for a small plastic version at the bottom of your breakfast cereal packet.

If only Fayed had been able to hang on to Harrods. It's sad to think of their staff and clientele being deprived of it.

    • I am at The Gardens. I saw GP on a Wednesday and he recommended physio, he checked availability and offered Tessa Jowell Centre for Saturday at 1 pm or Forest Hill Road Practice on a Monday at 11 am. I chose FH- very efficient/ Physio at FH very helpful, sent me some neck exercises and referred me for spinal assessment at Kings.
    • Of course, people's experiences may vary, but I'm afraid I can't recommend the DMC on Crystal Palace Rd.
    • Option 1.  Let them go bust.  Government takes over, until an appropriate solution found.  This happens with failing train operating companies  Option 2.  Anyone who made money on the privatisation, or their immediate descendants, bail them out  Obviously the latter isn't going to happen but makes me feel better/superior. What do you reckon?  Big picture.  Small picture as I posted elsewhere is that they were good when we had a leaking main.  And of course mass redundancies need to be avoided.
    • Hi my mum has a lovely frenchi , he needs to be walked , as mum (80) is a bit fragile . he is a lovely dog , a bit nervous when around other dogs . Mum lives in East Dulwich . how much do you charge ?   Thanks 🙏🏼
