To pay or not to pay

katurner

Recommended Posts

Why is it everyone on this damn site takes the piss & wants something for nothing?! If I put an asking price then that's what I'd like. Even if you put ONO, you people have no idea and take the piss.

You go on about having an Iceland on Lordship Lane instead of a Waitrose - get a life. If you can even offer reasonable money for items offered then how the F can you afford Waitrose. It's all show. People in Dulwich think they're something but really they're glorified chavs and Iceland is literally up your street.

What a thoroughly unpleasant person you obviously are.

Your entire contribution to the EDF is on the for sale section.

NEWSFLASH - the forum does not exist to enable you to de-junk.

If you don't like the forum, or us, why not simply take your unwanted tat and pay for a pitch at a car-boot sale instead?

Guess what katurner? This ISN'T gumtree - despite all your previous threads only being about trying to flog stuff. But thanks for engaging with us, delighted to have your input.

For the record - the seating you offered for "?275 or reasonable offer" had a reply from someone offering ?175. I don't think that's taking the piss nor particularly unreasonable - but then if your the kind who ONLY uses this forum to flog gear then maybe you're not getting the top dollar you require so I'd advise sticking to scumtree or exchange and mart.

...and if you take your wonderful old-fashioned tv stand that you have up for ?40 (reduced from ?50 but which most people leave out by the skip) and sell it on gumtree I would be delighted for you.

ETA: Ooooh, have the golf clubs gone? because I-... oh no... sorry... just saw at the bottom of your ad. "no timewasters" and that definitely lets me out.

ETA a 2nd time: And I just love the "you people" form of address. We are the "you people" - catchy slogan

It's a bizarre take on selling stuff - the idea that buying something of yours demands an act of generosity towards you from people that you hate.

Why would people want to buy something from someone who can barely control their malice whilst they snatch the money from their hand?

What a shitpig.

No balls and the clubs have "general wear and tear." I think we all know what that means - ebay speak for "nakered."

My offer is now ?0.90. Subject to delivery. Tomorrow. Morning. Between 9am-10am.

Then you'll love my bogof offer - buy 'Trevor Brooking - the Autobiography' (unsigned) and get the Haynes Owners Workshop Manual for VW Scirocco 1982-1990. A festive saving at only ?10 (plus ?20 handing-it-over fee).

See, it costs more 'cause it's older an' stuff.

I would be surprised if the Ford Escort manual hadn't been snapped up straight away *Bob*. It was a snip at a mere ?10. Even us piss-taking forumites wouldn't be able to resist a bargain like that.

Some might say 'why not buy one of the half dozen or so Haynes manuals for Ford Escort and Orion which are for sale on eBay for around ?4, including postage'?

The answer is clear.

This isn't just a Haynes manual for Ford Escort and Orion. This is a katurner Haynes manual for Ford Escort and Orion.

Firstly, to be fair I must say I agree with 'katurner' - everytime I try to sell something on the forum people have tried to barter me down to stupid prices. If I'm not prepared to offer a reasonable "or near offer" then I wouldn't bother - if the shoe was on the other foot what would you class as ONO?

Secondly, I totally agree with the Waitrose comment!!! Sometimes I sit and read the threads on this site just for the laughs - who cares if Lordship Lane has a Waitrose or an Iceland? Whatever there is the residents won't be happy. For instance - people have mentioned that we need more places to cross on LL - now that we have crossings being put in place people are moaning!!! People are moaning on here about a stupid Papa John's advertising board outside the shop...seriously people WHO CARES!

I say well done katurner for speaking up - your right East Dulwich is full of snobs "I was referred to the other day as a Melbourne Grover" - WTF...!!!

Best thing to do is to put 'no offers' and reduce the price if it doesn't sell after a period of time. I do think some people seem to take the mick in the for sale section - bartering down even on the cheapest items. I can understand why katurner lost their temper, because that's all the opening post is (a momentary loss of composure) and nothing worthy of the same old ill feeling and ridicule from the usual suspects (which imo is equally as bad mannered as the accusations they lay at the OP).

I understand ONO perfectly as I do 'reasonable offer' which is what the OP was asking for. Maybe we should debate just how much lower than asking price reasonable is and then decide if the OPs angst has some validity. I would say that that offering a price that is only 63% of the asking price is not reasonable...although I would have politely declined the offer had it been me rather than venting tbf.

No.

ONO = or nearest offer

You're selling something for ?10.

You get three offers at ?1, ?2 and ?3. ?3 is therefore your nearest offer, even though it is not 'near' ?10.

"nearest" is the key word here. ie, the nearest offer you receive out of all you offers, regardless of how near it is to the asking price.

    • It doesn't work as a commercial venture.  Bit churlish to say I told you so.  I told you so.  I'll send less greetings cards.  What pees me off is international postage where you can no longer send light letters at 10 grammes, normal ones up to 20g, now all at the much more expensive 100 g  Didn't we vote to take back control and price everything according to irrational units like ounces? That's some obscure humour btw
    • Available from Monday April 8th 2024, 2on2Walkies take pride in doggie care and only walk 2 furry friends at a time. I make sure that they get plenty of doggie interaction and socialisation in the park as well as making friends. Back home happy and tired I always check that the water bowl has fresh water and always make sure the doggie is left comfortable before I leave. I'm fully insured and have a couple of slots available for local walks to either Peckham Rye Park or Dulwich Park.  Thank you!
