The Space (SE5 8LY, UK)

This beautiful recently converted and unique loft is located in a 3-story Victorian house on a quiet road (Crofton Road, Camberwell, SE5 8LY), with on free road parking space and a garden.

You?ll be on the third floor. You'll have your own small landing, with entrance to a large space divided into 2 large rooms, as well a lovely private en-suite modern bathroom. The studio has central heating, skylight, French balcony with double doors, large windows, coffee & tea amenities and high speed WIFI. The space is largely furnished. The large windows offer views over the top of the surrounding houses.

The house is walking distance to Peckham Rye and Denmark Hill stations (max 15 min) and even closer to Bellenden Road / Bellenden Village, the center of social activities in the area.

The house has 2 large reception areas, a large kitchen space and front and back gardens.

You enter the house through a shared hallway (where you may leave a bike) and share the large kitchen with all its modern cons with 4 other housemates (2 male, 2 female, all working), who all have their bedroom on the second floor. A cleaner visits the house fortnightly to clean the property.

Guest Access

This is a self-contained loft apartment (bathroom, large bedroom and large living area). The loft area is entirely private, but you will share the kitchen with the other housemates. There is fast wi-fi, kitchen utensils and beddings and towels. There is a washing machine downstairs.

Interaction with Guests

Interaction with other housemates is as much or as little as you require to ensure you enjoy your stay. Your host lives 15 minutes away from the property to assist you as much as possible or required. The housemates are also sure to be friendly and welcoming.

The Neighbourhood

We absolutely love the cosmopolitan and multi-cultural nature of the neighbourhood. It is a home to various lovely restaurants (including superb Chinese and tapas as well as traditional British food in the local pubs), bars, cafes, markets, parks, and art galleries. It is a very vibrant community. This space is ideal for those working at Kings College Hospital in Denmark Hill.

The area is abundant with parks, small and large. Locals love Warwick Gardens and Grove Park. The larger Ruskin Park (15 mins) is also close by as is Peckham Rye Park and Burgess park (which offer tennis, outdoor gym and running facilities). There are also two great swimming pools nearby and Brockwell Lido is not too far away for outdoor swimming. Central Camberwell has some great and varied restaurants and East Dulwich?s Lordship Lane is not far either for more socialising destinations. It?s also a short trip to Brixton Village, with its incredible range of restaurants.

Getting around

Life is easy in this leafy locale. Denmark Hill station and Peckham Rye stations are both a 15 minute walk and are connected to the London overground and underground networks for the airports, West End, City, East London, and the rest of London!

Buses (day and night) are a 2 minute walk away: 12,36, 136,171, 343, 436 and take you to London Bridge, Oxford Circus, Victoria and Holborn.

Getting here.

It?s pretty easy to get to the house from the major local airports. If you are flying, let us know where at which airport you will arrive and we can advise on the rest. Gatwick and London City are perhaps the most convenient if you have a choice. Stansted and Luton are perhaps the least convenient!

Other Things to Note

Besides the kitchen you share the washing machine and garden, or if you prefer the lounge and reception area with the other housemates. Smoking outside only.

    • Hello all, Please excuse me/feel free to remove the comment if this isn’t the appropriate place for it. I am an East Dulwich resident writing a story for the South East Londoner (https://www.selondoner.co.uk) about the problems patients are facing with the service at Tessa Jowell GP Surgery and the Health Centre. I would like to speak with people currently or formerly registered with the practice to learn more about their experiences. This story won’t seek to single out or ‘have a go’ at individuals – by most accounts the quality of care for those who do get an appointment is good – but will look at the quality of service and why it seems to be worsening.  If you would like to speak to me, you can email [email protected] and we can arrange an interview. If you’d like to check who I am first, my editor Tom Holmes can be reached at [email protected] I will also post this on the East Dulwich Forum Facebook group. Thank you, Harry Hetherington
    • Whoever owns it obviously doesn't need the rent.
    • Am a power wheelchair user and whilst on the pavement cyclists expect me to make way for them
    • I agree with Head Nun. My experience is very similar and has been so for the 25 years I've lived in London. They got a lot worse after the Tour de France came here though. And then the Olympics.
