Anyone in need of a house-sitter over the Christmas holidays?

Hi all,

This might be a crazy idea, but a someone suggested that I ask the kind people of this forum about my problem. I'm a resident of ED myself, however since I live in a flat share I cannot invite my parents to come and stay there with me during the Christmas and New Year period. As it would mean a lot for us to be together or at least in the vicinity of each other I was wondering if anyone would like to have someone staying over their house to look after the property while they're away on holidays. The dates would be 24.12-1.1. We are a very nice and friendly family and if anyone is on the fence about this, I am definitely up for meeting beforehand any agreements.

(edit: Of course, I don't expect them staying over for free, but within reason :) )

  Hi everyone, I'm in the process of purchasing a flat in East Dulwich - 2 bed victorian conversion. It's a leasehold flat owned by Southwark Council. We've already had a few things come up in the purchasing process that has spooked us - for example S20 notice for a huge maintenance/repair cost bill which has now been dropped. So we are keen to do a bit more fact-finding on the leaseholder-freeholder experience. It would be great to know of people's experience owning a leasehold flat - and how often you are billed for unforeseen maintenance/repair costs. It would also be good to know if anybody has any experience buying the freehold from Southwark Council? Thanks!
