Detachable ariel for TV wanted

Please does anyone have a detachable metal style ariel they no longer need that I could borrow to try/buy?

I have a new TV and can't get the picture working - I think it needs a separate ariel - not sure it will work, but worth a try! I've tried connecting it through an old Sky box, as they said that should work even though we no longer get Sky upstairs, but no joy?

So if anyone does have an old metal stand alone TV ariel gathering dust, please could I borrow it??
