WANTED: Volunteer Maths or English tutors

Would you be interested in volunteering to tutor SATs or GCSE English or Maths to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds?

You will be helping pupils achieve a meaningful level of academic attainment, which in turn can help them progress to further education, employment or training.

Action Tutoring are looking for people who are interested in education and want to make a difference to a young person's future prospects. Enthusiasm for the subject you're tutoring (English or Maths) is crucial. Experience working with young people is helpful but not essential. All volunteers must be willing to undergo a DBS check.

*Location: a choice of 7 schools across South-East London inc. Hollydale Primary School(Nunhead) + Camelot Primary School(Peckham). We also have schools in Southwark, as well as Lambeth and Lewisham.

*Time commitment: 1 hour a week for 8-10 weeks

*Requirements: We look for volunteers who have or are studying for a degree (in any subject) and have an A or B grade at A-Level (or equivalent) in the subject they wish to tutor. This is to ensure that you are confident and comfortable with the topics you will be tutoring.

*What we provide: You will be given training, workbooks and will have the support of the Action Tutoring staff, including a Programme Coordinator, who will attend tutoring sessions. We can also cover reasonable travel expenses, up to ?5 per session
