Stroller advice

Strawbs

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Hope everyone is well. Ive recently sold my bugaboo chameleon as mini strawbs since he has been able to crawl (7m now 14m) has detested the pram which has resulted in the pram being used twice in 7 months and it literally became a coat rack.. SO I am now looking to buy a cheap stroller that will literally live in the boot of my car for the odd occasion we will need it (I foresee maybe 3-4 times a year). If Im lucky enough to have a baby number 2 I'll buy a second hand bugaboo bee off the forum.

Should I go for a maclaren? I really dont want to push around a tank but cant be too precious given how little use it will get. Ive only used an old maclaren not a new one so dont know how good the new ones are but I see lots of them around. Or is there a another hidden gem of a stroller that wont break the bank.

My other half has put a budget of ?50 on it but Im not quite sure if that is realistic haha..

thanks

xx

We've got the Maclaren Techno XT. A bit over your budget bought new, but it's great. We treat it very badly and it's showing no signs of wear and tear (after a year). What we particularly like about it is the ability to recline the seat near enough to horizontal, so our boy can sleep comfortably (and for longer) when we're out and about. It's also quite compact so cafe and bus friendly.

If you are really hardly going to use it, the maclaren quest is just fine. Small, nippy, great on buses - you should get a second hand one of those for ?50. Or Mamas and Papas do some small umbrella strollers pretty cheap. A new quest would be good as they recline flat I think, but they are quite pricey.

We got the above for a short holiday, as we weren't convinced our regular buggy would survive an easy jet flight. Anyway, for the price (on offer at argos for ?23.99) it has been brilliant. Lives in our boot, very very light, compact, easy to push and fold, comes with a raincover and a canopy - the latter is small but better than nothing.

However, it is not padded or luxurious - it's basically a deck chair on wheels - nor does it recline but then it is very cheap and my daughter is more than happy when in it.

Hi, I have a Silver Cross Pop (blue bubbles one) that I am selling for ?50. I have used it about 10 times so it is in good condition and I have 2 matching footmuffs, one still in the packaging as never used.

It reclines and comes with a canopy and rain cover, you can get a bit of shopping underneath. It's fine for occasional use.

Currently on sale in Mothercare for ?100, reduced from ?130.

    • I can recommend John Hudson. I've been taking lessons with him since last year and he's very good. He teaches most styles. You can find his contact details on his website - https://www.johnhudsonguitar.co.uk/
    • Hello, I was carrying my sleeping toddler on Sunday afternoon (21st April) and must have been pretty distracted and dropped my jumper from my bag. Iwas walking from Crystal Palace and then getting the 363 to The Gardens near Peckham Rye Park. Somewhere I seemed to have lost my favourite green jumper - is bright green, cashmere, from John Lewis, in case anyone spots it. Thank you! (Have phoned the bus garage too).
    • And what would you suggest for cyclists that also flout the rules?  Crush their bikes at the same facility that crushes errant drivers cars ?  Same rules and punishment must  apply to all road users (except runaway horses of course)
    • I'm looking for a guitar teacher for my 17 year old son. In terms of music that he likes, he says he's interested in learning fingerpicking (although I guess he needs to learn the basics first!). He listens to quite a lot of acoustic guitar stuff as well as indie stuff, has a curious interest in Japanese pop and loves folk too. Ideally we would be looking for someone who could do one-to-one lessons at my flat, which is 5 minutes walk from Honor Oak tube station.
