Prendergast Hilly Fields

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can let me know about this school? The results look good and I know that historically it was an excellent school. Also, does anyone know what the catchment area is like? Hoping to send my daughters there.

Thanks :-)

It's definitely a good school. Can't help about catchment areas though I believe that the Lewisham website has a tool for finding out how far you are from any Lewisham school; the school info will tell you how far it has taken any child within any of the Lewisham bandings in the past year. It will also explain the Lewisham banding system (very simply: kids do tests in Y5 which allocate them into different ability bands, and Lewisham schools - and the majority of other schools - which do not operate other entrance criteria - will aim to take an equal number of students within each band in order to get a genuinely comprehensive intake.

Sydenham Girls (the state one not the private one)is definitely worth checking out, by the way.

Would say still generally well thought of and has a tight catchment area with an additional limited number of musical scholarships each year (approx 12?. Check out their website for specific admission criteria but it is one school that generally you need to live within spitting distance of.

    • Hello all, Please excuse me/feel free to remove the comment if this isn’t the appropriate place for it. I am an East Dulwich resident writing a story for the South East Londoner (https://www.selondoner.co.uk) about the problems patients are facing with the service at Tessa Jowell GP Surgery and the Health Centre. I would like to speak with people currently or formerly registered with the practice to learn more about their experiences. This story won’t seek to single out or ‘have a go’ at individuals – by most accounts the quality of care for those who do get an appointment is good – but will look at the quality of service and why it seems to be worsening.  If you would like to speak to me, you can email [email protected] and we can arrange an interview. If you’d like to check who I am first, my editor Tom Holmes can be reached at [email protected] I will also post this on the East Dulwich Forum Facebook group. Thank you, Harry Hetherington

    • I agree with Head Nun. My experience is very similar and has been so for the 25 years I've lived in London. They got a lot worse after the Tour de France came here though. And then the Olympics.
