Dairy/Soya/Egg Free Recipes

Recommended Posts

Another recipes request...

I've been on a dairy, soya and egg free diet since January - my daughter is BF and has reflux. My latest attempt to reintroduce resulted in worsening symptoms and skin rashes for her.

I've so far been pretty inventive but I am now officially bored, bored, bored.

Does anyone have any suggestions for meals (lunch and dinner), snacks and desserts which might inspire me? I'm a fairly good cook and ideally need things that can be family meals for my partner and 3 year old son (who have no dietary requirements). NB I also don't eat meat, but do eat fish.

Thanks

Waitrose is best for specialist diet foods. Willies chocolate is soya and dairy free and yum (but 70% cocoa); my 2 year old loves it. Sorbet a good pudding. Birds original custard powder just cornflour or something so can be made with oat milk, as can rice pudding, semolina etc no meat is a toughie as we have a lot of spag Bol and beef stew; you could do a veg or fish stew? You can get an egg substitute for making cakes; never tried it but worth a shot. We introduced egg at 8 months and was fine. Home made wedges made with olive oil. You can get a yummy cheese free pizza in rocca in Dulwich village. Assume you know about oat milk, oat cream, pure olive and sunflower spreads, making your own bread with a bread maker, the orgran ranges of foods etc sorry not much help found it v hard when we were off eggs and gluten as well. Hope others have some ideas...

The below meal is delicious, also good for dieters. Also, Gwyneth Paltrows cookbooks are loaded with ideas as her family are intolerant to a lot.

The below recipe is yum and 300 cals for half. The below amount feeds two so double up if needed.

Chicken Kapama

Mix some flour, cinnamon, salt, pepper. Mix enough to cover two raw chicken fillets with it so no sticky raw chicken is left.

Heat glug olive oil. Sear chicken breasts for 1 min each side and set aside.

Add to now empty original pot- finely chopped white onion. Soften for 2mins

Add 2 bulbs chopped garlic, soften for 1 min

Add carton or can of chopped tomatoes

Add half mug of chicken stock

Add a tsp sugar or glug of maple or honey to remove bitterness of tomato (to taste)

Add sprinkle of cinnamon (to taste)

Put chicken back in

Put pot in oven, covered on 100c ish for 2hrs

Eat with lump of crusty loaf

Thanks very much. Some good ideas here. I shall investigate.

If anyone else has any ideas, keep them coming.

I'm trying to look at the positives. I've explored whole new areas of cooking that I would never have imagined ....Homemade dairy, soya, egg free mayo anyone? It's actually a lot nicer than it sounds!

Thanks - Deliverance sounds a good plan. I'm stuck on the same two takeaways here. Fish & Chips or Il Mirto seafood pizza (without cheese). Indian food is tricky (because of the ghee) as are Thai and Chinese (because of the soy sauce). However, had forgotten about sushi where soy sauce is normally on the side. Hurray!

Swedish Glace icecream is very addictive! The vanilla is my favourite flavour, they also do a really nice wild blueberry flavour! With regards to other snacks have you heard of 9bar? They have wheat free, dairy free bars, coeliac and vegetarian approved! Great for inbetween meals if you fancy something a little healthier!

    • That's a good idea smiley blue , if you or anyone else comes across petitions to end these despicable acts of cruelty to defenceless animals please put on here or start a new thread if you please so we can sign the petition and add our objections to this , I would also like to thank all of you the people for reading these messages and adding your voices to this cruelty,  maybe we can end it
    • Malumbu, by that measure are police efforts to cut down on anti-social driving by issuing tickets and fines a token effort as well? Surely punitive measures for cyclists breaking the rules will encourage them not to break the rules again? A bit like when you got stopped and taken into the cab of an HGV. The police are currently using that tactic to show those who break the rules cycling that it might lead them to being hit by a lorry due to the driver's having limited vision - the cycling equivalent of a speed awareness course for drivers.    When they stopped you was it because you had broken a rule or was it just more of an education programme and they asked you to take a look and did it change your cycling behaviour in any way? As I said previously there are those who break the rules on cycling out of ignorance (and those out of arrogance) and I am sure they are using HGVs to educate those in the ignorance category and then hitting those in the arrogance category with the PCNs.
    • Good that PETA is on it but can we add our voices to the fight against this horrible practice? I’m still shocked! A petition maybe? Happy to raise to the RSPCA but don’t want to duplicate efforts. I’ve signed campaigns from RSPCA before which sends it directly to your councillor
    • Yes, I'm aware of that. I believe the brood was five to begin with. However they are almost adult size now so not the prey of rats any longer.
