Healthy snacks for almost teenager

What to leave to eat after school for my almost 13 year old when he comes home from school in September? He's a growing boy and is conscious about eating right but it's so much easier for him to raid the biscuit tin whilst he waits for me to get home to cook tea.

Hoummus and carrots sticks/celery sticks?

Fruit and yogurt

Homemade (if you've the inclination) muesli/cereal bars with plenty of healthy seeds/nuts etc but also honey for sweetness?

Nuts and dried fruit

Things to make a smoothie with ( we do banana, natural yogurt, milk and oats)

Home-made WW bread [can have extra protein in it, eg nuts/seeds/soya flour]

+ honey and tahini together as a spread

+ bit of fresh fruit

+ glass of milk


Important for my son to have this high calorie event, as throughout school life he'd return home with low blood sugar & a short temper. Then he usually had a sit down rest not thinking about homework.
