Looking for a kind of Centre Parcs in South of France / Italy or Greece - please advise

Recommended Posts

Have been searching the net for nights in a row - I thought my criteria would not be impossible:

Chalet type accommodation (bungalows in nice setting)

Self catering but with one or two restaurants on site

Kids club (for ages 1 and 4)

Very near to a beach

Warm and Sunny in June

In Italy, South of France or Greek islands

NOT: all-inclusive (First choice ruled out)

NOT: more than ?2500 for 2 weeks

In short, a centre parcs style holiday I guess (so a bit nicer than mobile home village)

Can anyone PLEASE suggest or recommend?

Thank You!

I'm searching for the same sort of thing - with the added complication of having to go in school holidays! Simpson travel have 2 areas in Greece which exactly fit the bill but are really quite expensive. Mark Warner etc look good but again expensive and generally half board. There's a chalet camp site in menorca that I'm considering called camping Bon sou - but no kids club! My only other plan is to go to a villa complex in Spain/Portugal and hope the children make friends at the pool and that will entertain them!

If anyone has any other ideas (esp for school hols!) I'd love to hear them too!

Try a campsite? Eurocamp / Thomson / Keycamp all go to some lovely campsites all over Europe and it's a fab family holiday.

There are loads of great sites with pools / playgrounds /restaurant and take away / bar / shop all on site.

Most of the holiday companies run kids clubs in the mornings at least (although usually not for toddlers but school age and above so this may not work for you littlemissindulgence).

We usually book direct with the campsites as they mostly have their own mobilehome / chalet accommodation and it's cheaper than going with Eurocamp etc. Most of the sites also run their own kids clubs although not with English staff like the Eurocamp ones. (my children don't go to the kids clubs anyway so is not a big factor for us)

We tend to prefer the small / medium sized sites but the Eurocamp website is quite good for comparing sites and checking out the facilities as well as size etc of each one. My children always make friends and it's a really relaxing holiday and everything you need all on site.

I know you say needs to be nicer than a mobile home village but a lot of the sites are really beautiful and certainly a world away from some of the holiday park resorts that I've seen in the UK.

We've stayed in lovely 3 bed chalet / mobile homes on 4 & 5 star campsites in school summer holidays for between 800 and 1000 euros per week. (this is booking direct with site and also check different weeks as prices drop the last week in august and sometimes also the week before that)

Italy is full of places like this. Have a search for villagio or residenza in the area you are interested in. The only thing is any clubs for kids tend to be italian speaking only and for slightly older kids.

The Cilento coast in Italy is good as there are nice beaches. You can fly to Naples and hire a car. The Sardinian coast east of Cagliari is beautiful - white sandy beaches

we really enjoyed a holiday at les Tournels in the south of France. Yes, again it is a campsite, but upamrket ( if a little big) in a beautiful setting and with a good range of facilties ( not as much as centre parcs but then you do have a fantastic beach the other side of ther vineyards.)

    • Plenty for sale online from various ticket vendors but you'll need to part with £250 and upwards by the looks of it. Out of interest i kept an eye on the prices for the England and Italy Euro final. At one point they were on offer for a couple of grand each. On the day sellers were obviously getting itchy feet and prices dropped somewhat but never went any lower than £400. That was a few hours before kick off. There was plenty still available half an hour before kick off.   Having been to Wembley a couple of times for play off finals i found it to be not a great place to watch football. Sat three rows back from the pitch side advertising hoardings for one game and way way up in the gods for the other. We felt to far away from the pitch on both occasions. Up in the goods was just stupid because we felt cut off as well.  I don't think it was rebuilt with acoustics in mind either. Even with most of our 25k fans singing it never sounded loud because it's pretty much uncovered and too open.   Happy hunting!
    • It doesn't work as a commercial venture.  Bit churlish to say I told you so.  I told you so.  I'll send less greetings cards.  What pees me off is international postage where you can no longer send light letters at 10 grammes, normal ones up to 20g, now all at the much more expensive 100 g  Didn't we vote to take back control and price everything according to irrational units like ounces? That's some obscure humour btw
    • Available from Monday April 8th 2024, 2on2Walkies take pride in doggie care and only walk 2 furry friends at a time. I make sure that they get plenty of doggie interaction and socialisation in the park as well as making friends. Back home happy and tired I always check that the water bowl has fresh water and always make sure the doggie is left comfortable before I leave. I'm fully insured and have a couple of slots available for local walks to either Peckham Rye Park or Dulwich Park.  Thank you!
    • Why would they only send them recorded delivery? I used the signed for option yesterday.
