Blossoms Montessori or Rose House Montessori

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am trying to decide between Blossoms Montessori (ED) or Rose House Montessori (FH) for my 2 year old to start in September. I need to decide by tomorrow and am totally stuck.

Blossoms is cheaper, a bit smaller, and closer (15 minutes walk). They seem lovely but are a bit scruffier than Rose House, and they don't seem to have Montessori accreditation (although the Montessori itself isn't such a big thing for me). Hours will be 9-4. Ofsted is Good.

Rose House is very impressive, with proper Montessori accreditation, very clean and well run seeming. Ofsted is Outstanding. Its more expensive and further avay though (30 minutes walk). Hours will be 9-12 initially then 9-4 after he turns 3.

Any advice or experience of either of these nurseries?

Many thanks

K

My son is at blossoms and my daughter will start in sept, it is a lovely nursery, they do Montessori the proper way and we couldn't be happier, for us the smallness and nurturing environment is key and the teachers do regular Montessori training, what accreditation were you looking for? If you would like to pm me specific questions, I would be happy to answer, I would not be sending my daughter if I didn't think it was excellent.

Both my daughters were at Blossoms and they/we all loved it. Couldn't have wished for a better start for them. Very nurturing and I was hugely impressed with the great leaps and bounds both kids made in their learning while they were there. This is a few years ago now (my youngest is now in Year 2) but they both still miss it!

I would go for the shorter walk over most other considerations if you like the closest one. If it's 1/2 hour walk for you it would be a long slog when you're doing it with a tired and / or reluctant child on a scooter.

    • You can request for them to come and collect your full bins again https://forms.southwark.gov.uk/ShowForm.asp?fm_fid=1879 They usually come on whatever day your rubbish/recycling collection day is. If you aren't going to be in, leave them somewhere that they can find it. If you don't need replacements, just leave a note on the full ones that a replacement isn't needed.  They usually come quite early, so it's better to leave them outside if you can.
    • Just wondering- what were they arrested for? If you remember
    • Cyclists certainly do have a bit of a perception problem at the moment and when I cycle I see a lot of examples of arrogance and ignorance that gives all cyclists a bad name - it does seem that many cyclists have caught the entitlement bug many drivers seem to have.
    • But Spartacus didn't mention the significant amounts of land being used for car storage - that was most definitely you.   And I am afraid when you apply your same measure to other transport uses (like cycleways and cycle lanes - Malumbu is your stat on the 360 kms of cycle network cycleways or cycle lanes?) then it most definitely is relevant for the debate.   Should we assume then that if all this ULEZ money and government bailout money is being poured into TFL then the system is, financially at least, broken or is it a case that the money is being mis-spent (like the DV junction project)?
