Hello

Id love to take my 3 year old to a christmas singing thing at some point?mainly for me, love a bit of carol singing. Are there any toddler carol singing events in ed area over the next few weeks? Does anyone know when the southwark cathedral carols will be? I think that might be a bit full on for him but just interested.

My then 3 year old, 1 year old and I went to the Christingle service at St John's Church just by Goose Green last year and it was lovely. Plenty of carol singing, plus handing out of the Christingle orange, lit with candles etc. It was late afternoon (about 4-ish I seem to remember)and a very welcoming and family friendly atmosphere.

Sorry for the confusion - it's Thursday the 18th December!

Here is the information on the page:

Join the Goose Green School children's choir and Goose Green Community for Christmas carol singing, mulled wine and minced pies! This family friendly event is open to all - you'll find us in the gathered around the Christmas Tree, at 6pm on Thursday 18th December. This year, the event is being sponsored through the generous support of local estate agent No Flies. Find out about No Flies here http://no-flies.co.uk/

Rob Parton, school music teacher and director of the East Dulwich Academy of Music and Performing Arts will be leading the festivities.

The Goose Green Adult Community Choir (led by choir director Dan Maitland local music teacher http://eazypeazymusic.com/) is open to all members of the local community - we meet on Tuesday evenings, 6:30 - 7:55pm New members welcome! Go to our website at http://www.goosegreenchoir.com/ for more info or email us at [email protected]

Thanks Vrook for suggesting Bach to Baby!

I'm Miaomiao who runs Bach to Baby, and we have a very special concert planned for our Dulwich Village concert on Monday Dec. 8th, 10:30am. The programme is a Festival of Songs, featuring David Jones, Baritone. We will also have lots of sing-along carols at the end, so come prepared to sing!

Our West Dulwich/Tulse Hill concert is Friday Dec. 19th at 4pm

and that is a special Trombone and Sackbut concert. Rare opportunity to hear the ancient instrument live.

of course, we'll have your favourite carols to end too.

So, if you have any questions, just PM me, or write back here.

more info can be found at http://www.bachtobaby.com/londonsouth

Hope that helps!

Hey Anya, hope you're really well! We took the kids to the christingle at St. John's last year and it was really lovely, Nancy really liked it (tho I nearly had a heart attack when she nearly set light to someone with her christingle candle). It is hugely popular, so be sure to get there early - http://www.stjohnseastdulwich.org/the-goose-green-centre - looks like there's one at 3 and 4.30 on Xmas Eve xx

You won't be able to miss it! This year, we are planting a living Christmas tree (with Southwarks blessing) on Goose Green. It's to be at least 6foot I believe. The planting is due to take place tomorrow on the green - in the long term goose green primary school will take responsiblity for long term upkeep of the tree. The children of the school will decorate it before Carols on the Green.

I will take a photo and post it here so there is no doubt where will will meeting!

Thanks for all these ideas and info, Caroline that sounds great for Christmas Eve if you're going again this year let me know! We were considering southwark cathedral but closer to home might be preferable. Had a similar incident with Maurice last year with a candle at a Christmas Eve carol service...

  • 2 weeks later...
Went to a lovely Christmas Crib Service at St Faith's in North Dulwich today. The toddlers and children acted out the story of baby Jesus and I got to sing away to all the Christmas songs I've loved over the years. Always takes me back to morning assembly at Bessemer! They even had a play area at the back of the church for toddlers who couldn't sit still for long!
