Goodrich school uniform - shoes??

My son is starting Goodrich reception in september - and I'm not sure what we need to do in terms of shoes. I understand that we need plimsolls for PE - but for the noraml every day uniform what shoes is he supposed to have? Can he wear his usual flashing spaceship trainers (!) or is he supposed to be in black 'school' shoes?

Black school shoes - the school is (thankfully) clamping down on kids wearing trainers and football type boots. I buy my son Clark's trainer style school shoes (all black) rather than the more formal ones that are available, as he finds them most comfortable.
