or any of the other private schools in the area? I mean things like how many are given out, the level of financial help given and if children who are after a bursary place are marked differently in terms of the entry exams ? Any info gratefully received (pls Pm if easier) thanks

Here's some information about the level of scholarships awarded for music entrance to private schools in South London (article was written a couple of years ago so amounts may vary). Click on the school links to check out other scholarships (maths, sports, art, financial assistance, bursaries etc)

I believe Alleyns' bursaries are given to those who qualify via the entrance exam, and then fulfil the criteria through a standard form which declares income etc.

All the major Independent schools in the area offer bursaries, and they are all trying to increase their offer year on year.

Check the websites for full up to date details or speak to the Registrars at the schools.
