What is Stay and Play?

I've been looking on ED Tots and it looks like lots of nurserys do 'Stay and Play' or Dulwich Wood Nursery does a parent and Toddler event. What are the events? Do I just turn up with my little one?

Hi David, stay and play means a parent/carer stays rather than drops off, as happens at nursery, and usually such sessions are on an ad hoc basis, so you turn up on the day.

When kids get to reception, "Stay and play" usually means there are way too many adults in the room, and no space to move. There will also be a couple of kids absolutely inconsolable because their parents were not able to stay and play. It's not a great idea in my opinion.

In my experience, it's another word for playgroup.
