Christiania Cargo - family/business bicycle - your recommendations please

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has an experience with this type of bicycle.

How hard is to use it comparing with the regular one, when is loaded with children or cargo and then you are manoeuvring on the main road?

Can you travel quite far or are they are designed for short trips? Can the person pedalling manage longer distances without major problems?

Would you recommend it to someone else to buy it for the family or business.

I am just looking at my options at the moment and I do not have a car and to be honest I do not want a car in London more hustle than anything else. I came across this type bicycle and was wondering how is it to use it on the daily basis. It is not the cheapest of the bicycles but if I compare it with the cost of having a car it looks like a winner to me.

I would be for any reviews.

Thank you

we had one for a while when we didn't have a car and used it for shopping, local trips too far for small legs to walk etc. I really liked it. It's quite slow and heavy but felt very stable and the gears helped up the hills. You can fit lots in the box and there's good storage under the seat if you get one with the bench fitted. Also has good resale value

We have a cargo bike but it's not a Christiania. If you're planning on loading it up, I'd recommend getting the electric assist. Especially if you're going up hills a lot. London Green Cycles has a wide range of cargo bikes you can try out. You can see if you prefer the two wheeled vs three. Locally, London Recumbents in Dulwich Park and Balfe's Bikes has the Nihola cargo bike for you to test ride.

Feel free to PM if you have further questions.

Hi, I run Balfe's Bikes and use my Nihola for work and my kids. It's part of the family and key to our routine. Feel free to pop down and see mine, I too would recommend the electric assist version although mine is not. We just started dealing Nihola so have some really low offer prices at the mo. Richard

    • Available from Monday April 8th 2024, 2on2Walkies take pride in doggie care and only walk 2 furry friends at a time. I make sure that they get plenty of doggie interaction and socialisation in the park as well as making friends. Back home happy and tired I always check that the water bowl has fresh water and always make sure the doggie is left comfortable before I leave. I'm fully insured and have a couple of slots available for local walks to either Peckham Rye Park or Dulwich Park.  Thank you!
    • Why would they only send them recorded delivery? I used the signed for option yesterday.
