academic enrichment programme - secondary school scholarship for son

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

My son in year five at a local state primary school has been recommended by the headmaster to attend an academic enrichment programme at Westminster Underschool. He starts the academic enrichment programme next month 9(Feb 2017) and it entitles him to take an admissions exam to this prestigious private school and possibly qualify for a scholarship or bursary to attend.

This, of course, would be a wonderful thing as there is not much of a chance I could afford to send him to a private secondary school.

Would anyone be willing to share experience or tips on how to go about this? I am planning on getting a tutor, but I have a feeling there is a lot more I need to know about giving him the best possible chance of getting a place there. I am aware that schools like this sometimes need to offer scholarship places to less well off children (i.e. parents) in order to qualify for charity status. I'm more interested in getting him in to the school. We visited it and it looks good.

I would greatly appreciate any advice along these lines.

Please PM me if you can help.

Mary
