Ceiling extractor fans

Hello Am looking for a ceiling fan which we can put flush on our ceiling over our kitchen island. We don't have much room in between our joists and ceiling so am hoping for some recommendations of which make and model people have used please. I have seen a couple but they would mean either boxing it in or lowering the ceilings Thanks Catherine

  I'm going to speak to my friends wife about it , she has already spoken to the headmaster at the school where she works and they have agreed with her to never do anything like this again , I know she is going to be contacting other schools and school board to make an official complaint etc
