Midwife advice please....

Recommended Posts

It's not necessarily juniper. It depends on the type of birth you want - labour ward vs home for example. I want a highly medicalised birth on labour ward so I'm with Ivy Green midwives. Different teams have different specialisms. At your booking in appointment you should be able to go over your thoughts about the birth and then you'll be assigned to a team.

thats true, but if you want the equivalent of what you had with oakwood then i would advise getting booked in with juniper now - i was with the lanes last time and i have had exactly the same sort of experience with Juniper (though i had a homebirth and so possibly was assessed/allocated in some way I'm not aware of)

i just rang them direct when i realised i was pregnant and so was registered with them ahead of my official booking in appt, if that makes sense.

I am SE22 and was originally assigned to Ivy Green. Was transferred to Juniper (who were amazing) after I said I wanted a home birth. If you can get Juniper you'll be in great hands but I believe Juniper only deal with home births and women with mental health problems?

I don't want a home birth and don't have mental health problems and I am with Juniper.

My details with registered with Kings via the midwife linked to my GP Surgery and then I received a booking appointment which had allocated me to Juniper before I had any discussions regarding my wishes. They mentioned a home birth as I was low risk and had a straightforward labour last time, and I refused saying I wanted to be in Kings.

I'm also with Juniper, and am in two minds over whether I want a home birth or not (mainly due to having another young child about). Juniper is the equivalent of what the Lanes used to be. Allocation is based on postcode, which benefits me as it used to be that it was a midwife caseload team assigned to specific GPs, and I missed out as I'm with the Gardens.

If it's a homebirth team you're looking for then it's the Birchtree midwives (with Kings) you need...leave a message on this number and they usually call back the same day: 020 3409 0704. This team is what Brierley used to be. I just had my third baby with them and they were truly amazing!!

    • A quick Google found this, amongst other things: "Social impact models are frameworks or approaches that guide how organizations or initiatives address social or environmental problems."
    • "If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck then it must be a duck" comes to mind Unfortunately, a large number of cyclists do exhibit selfish amd anti social behaviour which, regardless of how many good cyclists there are, is seen as the norm.  It's a bit like one car driver jumping a red light and all car drivers getting tarred by the same brush. Perception is the issue and if cyclists all obeyed the rules, everyone would be less anti them but unfortunately that isn't the case 🤔
    • Crikey. How did you know it was Immigration Enforcement?
    • Saying cyclists are the most antisocial people in London isn't helpful.  Nor is the Standard referring to cyclists as lycra clad louts  Yes we can have an adult conversation.  But emotive knee jerk nonsense is not going to achieve this and just plays into the hands of those wanting a manufactured culture war
