We rented a small house in Haarlem last Summer - lovely old cathedral town with canals. 15 min walk to station then short ride into Amsterdam with frequent direct trains. Much better value than equivalents in Amsterdam. We also hired bikes in Haarlem and had a great day out riding to the nearby seaside. Rented via Booking.com but believe they rent via Air B&B too. It's called Charming House and it was quite sweet!
