I don't think there is a word for someone who cannot learn something and as a teacher, I believe that anyone can learn anything if they want to. Teachers talk about learners having a 'fixed mind set' or a 'growth mind set'. If you can share more details I might be able to help.

Hi guys, sorry for delay in replying, I will try to explain further, I have been trying to learn/memorise something for the past 8 months now, and it just won't stick I have to refer to the book every time. I feel I am a non-learner, but there must be another word for this. Any suggestions would help. Thankyou.

Lavender you might need to try different strategies to make it stick. there are ways in doing this, if you are interested I can give you further information. (Part of my work is to support university students with Lesrning differences, and this is an aspect that we look at). There can be different reasons from processing to short term memory difficulties.

Hiya,.....

a few tricks I learned as a student....

if you have to read, read it out loud,as it sticks better to your (sub)consciousness)...

it helps do decode your memory

Another technique is Sleep learning....this means listening to a tape/CD on auto reverse, while you're sleeping.......

Google ''The official Sleep Learning Website'

there a lots of listening-learning tapes/CDs available....check your library too

hope that helps

    • Aria has been great with fitting a new shower and rearranging some pipe work for us. He was quick, approachable and even highlighted that the shower manufacturer offered a cheap installation (we didn’t do this in the end as needed something else done as well). He was able to complete the work soon after his initial visit. Would recommend!
    • Yes but the point of saying "through" or "thru" is that it unambiguously includes Friday!!! "Monday to Friday" might or might not include Friday. "Monday through Friday" very clearly does include Friday. Nothing wrong with a useful expression that just happens to come from America, surely? Much of our modern language does originally, just as much of their language came from us originally. Times change, and all that ....
    • I'd say sending them  the affidavit and offering them a full refund for the return of the machines is a great idea. By far the least hassle for you, and will put them on the spot if they have been telling lies. If you end up having to give them the refund, you will be no worse off than you were before the sale (assuming they don't damage the machines, of course). But I know nothing about the legal issues (if any) around all this. Citizens Advice might help if you run into further difficulties? Good luck!
    • The point is that these door to door sellers are doing it under false pretences, and claiming to be part of a project that doesn't exist.
