After taking an intensive driving course only to fail my test, I found Silvano who managed to book me a series of lessons at short notice and hugely improved my driving, allowing me to pass my driving test! I cannot recommend him highly enough for his patience and professionalism. He was always prompt in collecting me and never failed to make me feel comfortable and relaxed - crucial when learning to drive!

He is based in Dulwich and can be contacted at: [email protected]

Thanks and good luck!

I'd highly recommend Sarah. After almost 2 years of on and off lessons with a major driving school and four fails - Sarah sharpened me up in under 10 hours of lessons and helped me pass.

She's really thorough and fair. And you get to drive a mini!

I just passed my test today (first time!!!) with Sarah (+44 7956 563129) I'm so pleased! I started learning with a different instructor about 10 years ago but gave up after a few lessons as I didn't seem to be making progress and I hated driving! Learning to drive with Sarah has been a really good experience as she is a great teacher. I highly recommend her :)

I would like to add a recommendation for Sarah. I have failed a couple of times and hadn't driven at all for five years. I started again in September 2013 and passed in early January. Sarah was a great teacher, really patient and tailored the lessons to suit my needs. Really great driving instructor and lovely red mini!

I also strongly recommend Sarah (+44 7956 563129)- she is brilliant! I have never driven and am nearly 40. I read the reviews listed here & called Sarah - she promptly rang me back & we booked a lesson with the view to me doing an intensive course. Sarah assess you and your capabilities (or lack of them..) very quickly and is excellent at then instilling calm confidence whilst ensuring she challenges you to keep on learning rather than stagnating. She is always prompt and very good at communtating, Sarah is a fantastic teacher becuase she moulds to your needs rather than sticking to a rigid course. We did a couple of double lessons to get me familiar with her immaculate red mini and then we did a 5 day course but not back to back due to diaries we had a couple of day breaks which was ace because my brain may have burst if we had not! I took my test on the last day and passed - I am elated and have a new found freedom thanks to Sarah, I would NEVER had said that was viable a couple of weeks before and that was entirely due to Sarah's attitude and ability to teach - Thank you Sarah.

Hooray! I just passed my test (first time) after having lessons with Sarah.

Having driven for over 20 years I needed to get my licence in this country, and if you think learning to drive is hard, try forgetting how to drive with bad habits and then learning how to do it 'properly'! Anyway, Sarah has been a great teacher and coached me through. Thank you.

After nearly a year of no lessons, today I braved the roads again, with fabulous Sarah as My instructor!

I felt so at ease and relaxed that the double lesson flew by and am confident that she will get me through my test with no problems

Certainly the best instructor I have had and would still only recommend sarah to friends, family and members of the forum!

I suggest the Nicholas driving school.

Nick was very supportive and helped me to develop my driving skills. I passed my driving test the first time. Its good to know that there are few instructors who genuinely want to help you to progess and pass your driving tests.

Needed tuition as we were buying an automatic for the first time. Sarah recommended Naomi on 07976214791. Naomi was able to give a lesson at short notice, and couldn't have been more helpful. Highly recommended!

I second that. Sarah is a brilliant instructor. I'm not "native" to the UK and learnt to drive over 20 years ago. The thought of driving in London traffic terrified me. A few lessons with Sarah and I was driving in peak hour in Central London. In her words she "pulled me apart and put me back together again." She is clear, concise and forthright and easily puts you at ease. There is no way in this world I would've passed my test OR been safe on the road without her. If you're putting off learning or brushing up, don't put it off any longer. No more buses!!!

Hi Pippa

Would you mind sending me a pm with Sarah's email, too? Or a mobile number? Thanks! Louise

Hi,

Just wanted to join in to say that Sarah (07956563129) is absolutely brilliant. I passed my test last year with another instructor but felt terrified to drive by myself. After one year of avoiding driving, I decided to book a couple of lessons with Sarah to build up my confidence. She managed to do this in no time...she also spotted ( and helped me correct) a few bad habits I had picked up and went unnoticed with my previous instructor.

To sum up, I recommend her wholeheartedly!

Hi all,

I just want to add a recommendation for Silvano (mentioned earlier in this thread); I passed first time on Monday with only 3 minors.

He was always very patient and easy-going, and was able to bring my driving up to a high standard from no experience at all.

Best of all I'm confident in my driving now that I've passed and making the most of it already!

Hi All,

I would also like to recommend Sarah (07956563129). I passed my test first time with her (after taking a break for a few years from learning to drive). She was very patient and went through carefully everything I needed to do to improve including a recap at the beginning and end of each lesson. It was such a difference from my last instructor who although was nice was not nearly as knowledgeable.

    • What would I do about cyclists?  The failed Tory manfesto commitment to train all kids was an excellent proposal.  Public information campaigns aimed at all road users, rather than singling some out, to more considerately share the road, as TfL have done, is welcome too. As for crunching vehicles.  I'd extend this to illegal ebikes, illegal e-scoooters (I think some local authorities have done this with the latter) but before that I would (a) legislate that the delivery companies move away from zero hours contracts to permanent employees and take responsibility for their training, vehicles and behaviour on the road.   More expensive takeaways are a price worth paying for safer roads and proper terms and conditions (b) legislate to register all illegal e-bikes and scooters so that when they are found on the road the retailer takes a hit, and clamp down on any grey markets.  If you buy an e scooter say from Halfords this comes with a disclaimer that it can only be used on private land with the owner's permission.
    • I know a lot of experts in the field and getting a franchise was a license to print money, that is why Virgin were so happy to spend lots of dosh challenging government ten years ago when they lost the West Coast franchise.  This will not be overnight, rather than when the franchise has come to the end. Government had previously taking over the operator of last resort when some TOCs screwed up. Good, at last some clear blue water between the parties.  Tories said they were going to do a halfway house, but I've not noticed.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_British_Railways   : "On 19 October 2022, Transport Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan announced that the Transport Bill which would have set up GBR would not go ahead in the current parliamentary session.[15] In February 2023, Transport Secretary Mark Harper re-affirmed the government's commitment to GBR and rail reform.[16] The 2023 King's speech announced the progression of a draft Rail Reform Bill which would enable the establishment of GBR, although it has not been timetabled in the Parliamentary programme.[5] The Transport Secretary Mark Harper later told the Transport Select Committee that the legislation was unlikely to reach Royal Assent within the 2023-2024 parliamentary session.[17]"
