Maybe It?s Not Your Diet Or Exercise Regime That Needs Changing

You realise that you need to lose weight ? either because of a visit to the doctor, or for the reason that quite simply your clothes no longer fit. You test something out, perhaps you experience a little improvement ? but it doesn?t last long and you find yourself slowly slipping back into old habits.

Maybe you stick to something for even a few months and turn up at your cousins wedding 3 stone lighter than when they saw you last year. But then unfortunately you relapse, and by the following Christmas you have your previous weight plus some. Sooner or later a new study or book comes out, or you see that cover on the celebrity magazine with all the bikinis or six packs and you decide it?s time to try again. You go onto the next thing to test, but the same thing happens and again, a few months later you?re back at square one. You get frustrated, angry with life and stressed so decide to just go back to your old ways.

?Why does it have to be so hard?? you ask yourself. However guess what- did you ever stop to think that if you continue changing diets and the regimes don?t work long-term maybe it?s not the diet or exercise routine that needs changing? Have you ever considered professional tailored guidance that combines effective behavioural change techniques with nutrition and exercise coaching to support you with education, motivation and self belief for the long-term?

Thank you for giving my thread your attention

    • Hello all, Please excuse me/feel free to remove the comment if this isn’t the appropriate place for it. I am an East Dulwich resident writing a story for the South East Londoner (https://www.selondoner.co.uk) about the problems patients are facing with the service at Tessa Jowell GP Surgery and the Health Centre. I would like to speak with people currently or formerly registered with the practice to learn more about their experiences. This story won’t seek to single out or ‘have a go’ at individuals – by most accounts the quality of care for those who do get an appointment is good – but will look at the quality of service and why it seems to be worsening.  If you would like to speak to me, you can email [email protected] and we can arrange an interview. If you’d like to check who I am first, my editor Tom Holmes can be reached at [email protected] I will also post this on the East Dulwich Forum Facebook group. Thank you, Harry Hetherington

    • I agree with Head Nun. My experience is very similar and has been so for the 25 years I've lived in London. They got a lot worse after the Tour de France came here though. And then the Olympics.
