New Fireplace fitter required

Hi

I haven't used them myself (I just wanted a gas fire swapped) but they seemed very approachable and I did get their name from a highly recommended tradesman on this forum. RPS Fireplaces of Sydenham (they have a website). They might be a good place to start.

Regards,

I used RPS fireplaces last year to renovate two large cast iron victorian fireplaces and to install a stove.

They were excellent- great to deal with, professional, an excellent finish and reasonably priced. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I just want to add a thread to this post in case someone is looking for a fireplace installer. I contacted John (Avalon) after reading messages on here, he came round to quote on fitting a cast iron fire place, his price was reasonable and he installed the fireplace for us the following week. I would like to recommend him for his service. very reliable, reasonable price and most importantly, he does a good and professional job!

    • That is clearly not true. I see car drivers breaking the law on hourly basis - jumping red lights, speeding, not obeying the general rules. Plus they  are operating considerably more dangerous machinery and should have a greater responsibility of care to other road uses. You can see who causes the most harm by the stats.  Lucky car driver obey the rules the rules then. Oh wait.. https://amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/jul/06/car-crashes-into-primary-school-in-south-london-wimbledon

    • A quick Google found this, amongst other things: "Social impact models are frameworks or approaches that guide how organizations or initiatives address social or environmental problems."
    • "If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck then it must be a duck" comes to mind Unfortunately, a large number of cyclists do exhibit selfish amd anti social behaviour which, regardless of how many good cyclists there are, is seen as the norm.  It's a bit like one car driver jumping a red light and all car drivers getting tarred by the same brush. Perception is the issue and if cyclists all obeyed the rules, everyone would be less anti them but unfortunately that isn't the case 🤔
