Stripping of wooden doors - looking for recommendation

We once had some wooden doors covered with old and recalcitrant (and probably toxic!) paint stripped by the secondhand/antique furniture shop that used to be on Lordship Lane but is no longer there, using a procedure of dipping into some solvent or acid. Does anyone know of a place that does this kind of thing? Thanks.
