Recommendation: Architects Green & Teggin

Hi everyone,

I wanted to recommend our fabulous architect Jacqueline (from Green & Teggin). She designed a STUNNING rear extension for us which we are really happy with.

The brief was challenging as we had major light issues with our neighbour so for her to overcome them easily was such a relief. Jackie came up with clever, simple and creative solutions which doubled our living space.

When I started looking for architects, I decided to hunt around as I wanted to be sure of finding someone that was creative and could provide effective solutions for our light restrictions. I ended up meeting with 5 of them and explained our challenges and brief. Most of the architects I met didn't fill me with confidence. I was worried they wouldn't design anything that our neighbour would be happy with and most didn't even follow up with me after our initial meeting. However, Jackie gave me so many ideas in our initial meeting that I knew she was the one. From that meeting on, we went back and forth with various designs which our neighbour signed off and we were very pleased with.

We've just had planning approval so we are very excited about the next stage which Green & Teggin are also helping us with.

If you are looking for an architect that really understands space, light and the intricacies of Victorian properties then Jackie is your lady. Professional and very creative. We couldn't be happier.

Contact me for a reference.

Hi Uns

I called Green and Teggin and was really surprised to find that they charge ?250 for a first meeting which is the design consultation - there's no opportunity to meet first to see their portfolio and whether you get on creatively, whether they understand your needs etc

They also said they're really busy and only want a job that will cost ?100k build! I have no idea how much the build will cost but they said that unless it's a ?100k budget and the job interests them then they're too busy.

Wow, they really must be busy!!

I had a great experience with them and found them to be very helpful. I looked at their designs online before our meeting (to make sure I liked their creative output) and Jackie was excellent with designs and correspondence.

They may be busy, but they are very good.

Thanks Uns

We really appreciate your support, and thanks to everyone on the forum who has supported us over the years, we have been very touched by your comments.

Ninbi, we are really sorry we were unable to help you on this occasion. It is true, we are busy at the moment and we are very careful not to take on more work that we can comfortably handle, as a husband and wife team, to ensure that we maintain a high standard of work.

Ideally, we would like to help everybody that comes to us, and as such, we devised the design/ideas consultation to give design advice at the very beginning of a project, where it can make the most difference and stop regretful decisions being made. The consultation involves one of us coming to your property, discussing your requirements and how you prefer to live, measuring up the areas you would like to change and then drawing scaled plan options whilst there that are realistic for a give budget and show the full potential of your property. We have had very positive feedback about this service.

In general, we take on a new project every six to eight weeks and when we are looking, we do offer free consultations. We will be looking for a new project in the next few weeks, and to vary our portfolio, we will be looking for a slightly larger, or small but quirky project.

We have loved working on our East Dulwich projects so far and look forward to continuing to do so in the future.

All the best

Jacqueline Green

  • 1 year later...

My wife and I asked Jackie and Tom to help us with a complete overhaul of our Victorian semi. They were absolutely phenomenal throughout. Jackie was patient and attentive to us throughout the design process, making a number of terrific suggestions which we ultimately incorporated. Through the tender and build phase, Tom was diligent and thorough in keeping the builders on track, and making sure they executed properly. Their personal approach was really valuable for us, especially as we had never done anything like this before.

Thoroughly recommended, happy to be contacted for references.

Not used Green @ Teggin but like fact they ensure they only take on work that can be managed at any one time. Got badly stung by an architectural company who had a habit of vanishing because too busy juggling different jobs.

    • Option 1.  Let them go bust.  Government takes over, until an appropriate solution found.  This happens with failing train operating companies  Option 2.  Anyone who made money on the privatisation, or their immediate descendants, bail them out  Obviously the latter isn't going to happen but makes me feel better/superior. What do you reckon?  Big picture.  Small picture as I posted elsewhere is that they were good when we had a leaking main.  And of course mass redundancies need to be avoided.
    • Hi my mum has a lovely frenchi , he needs to be walked , as mum (80) is a bit fragile . he is a lovely dog , a bit nervous when around other dogs . Mum lives in East Dulwich . how much do you charge ?   Thanks 🙏🏼
    • Plenty for sale online from various ticket vendors but you'll need to part with £250 and upwards by the looks of it. Out of interest i kept an eye on the prices for the England and Italy Euro final. At one point they were on offer for a couple of grand each. On the day sellers were obviously getting itchy feet and prices dropped somewhat but never went any lower than £400. That was a few hours before kick off. There was plenty still available half an hour before kick off.   Having been to Wembley a couple of times for play off finals i found it to be not a great place to watch football. Sat three rows back from the pitch side advertising hoardings for one game and way way up in the gods for the other. We felt to far away from the pitch on both occasions. Up in the goods was just stupid because we felt cut off as well.  I don't think it was rebuilt with acoustics in mind either. Even with most of our 25k fans singing it never sounded loud because it's pretty much uncovered and too open.   Happy hunting!
    • It doesn't work as a commercial venture.  Bit churlish to say I told you so.  I told you so.  I'll send less greetings cards.  What pees me off is international postage where you can no longer send light letters at 10 grammes, normal ones up to 20g, now all at the much more expensive 100 g  Didn't we vote to take back control and price everything according to irrational units like ounces? That's some obscure humour btw
