poppet27
Please can anyone recommend a half decent GP in East Dulwich?Forest Hill Road Group Practice are diabolical and getting worse. You're usually on hold for 15 - 20 mins after which there's never any appointments outside of 9:30 - 4:30.
glittersocks
Try The Gardens in The Gardens (Georgian square behind Peckham Rye. Nice GP's especially Dr Cliffe. Reception are okay and you are not on hold for as long.
ralee
I rang forest hill road surgery on Friday and asked to see a doctor or nurse, they said it would be at least 3 weeks for either! Ridiculous.
alice
why can we get same day appointments?
Dodo1
HiAs part of their new contract they must offer you the ability to book on line appointments. Have a look at their website and see if you can do this. Any complaints contact the Practice Manager.
dds29
Please address your complaints to the Practice manager; all GP practices are under a great deal of pressure thanks mainly to gov. policy concerning the NHS.They are also a teaching practice and doctors also follow their specialisms at clinics etc.I'm a patient of 25 yrs standing.and have been pretty satisfied. Mustard
Is Forest Hill Rd surgery the one that uses a premium rate telephone for appointments?
dbboy
It used to until after pressure, it changed back to a standard phone number 020 8299 1234
coco99
Thanks for the information about a change back to a standard charge phone line. I am a patient at this practice and although I rarely use the doctors I am satisfied and did not change doctors when I moved and other practices would be more convenient. Their use of a premium rate phone number was my only gripe.
Growlybear
I am always surprised when I read that people can't get appointments at Forest Hill Road Group Practice. I've been registered there for around 35 years, and have still never found a problem in getting an appointment. The GP I prefer to see only works part time, and I have to book two or three weeks ahead to see her, which I think is perfectly acceptable. If I need to see a doctor urgently, and explain the reason why, I always get a same day appointment. I've always found that the reception staff go out of their way to be helpful. In 35 years, I've never had to hold on the phone for 15-20 minutes - I think the maximum wait I've ever had is 5 minutes, and that is very rare. I can't comment on the issue of only getting appointments between 9.30-4.30 - if I'm unwell enough to need to see a doctor, then I am happy to take any time that I'm offered.
