Koz Closing

Was in there last night and the owner said they're closing and moving to Beckenham due to increased rental costs which he doesn't want to pass on to customers.. As far as I'm concerned this place does the best food in Lordship Lane, Gutted!

Don't think it could compete with Hisar..

Although that too has been a bit of a let down recently since it was taken over.

Most kebabs seem to come with a choice of Chips or Rice/Bulgar served with Salad..

Last time I went to K?z I got 'Cold boiled vegetables' with my Lamb Shish in place of salad. Nasty..

I've never been into Koz or strangely enough any of that particular building's previous incarnations. At least I don't think I have. Anyway, the rents around here have become prohibitively expensive thanks to despicably greedy landlords. So we can expect some very bland chain moving in, which is a shame.

"I was under the impression that the last 3 incarnations were owned and run by the same people.."

That was my impression too, and I guess in light of this news that they had a long-ish commercial lease rather than a proper long lease or freehold, and its now up for renewal or rent review.

It's a shame they're going - I thought the food was pretty good, and it was generally a different style of place from most of the LL restaurants, and variety is good. I'm not going to say a landlord is doing anything wrong by trying to maximise their return, but it seems pretty shortsighted when there have been retail units lying empty and a mixed record for new openings.

I think the owner of Koz owns Dos Amigos....

Not good news, nobody wants to see empty units along LL.

Although I have to say that I was never tempted to try it. Went into the old Tex-Mex place once or twice... OK as cheap stodge to soak up booze... but there was a lot less competition back then.

That's a real shame - I've been there a couple of times recently as part of large groups for birthday dinners. The food is nice, and good value (?20 a head for party menu, and decent quality house wine). Friendly staff and I know a lot of loyal regulars who will be sad to see it go.

I'm sort of sorry as I went to their opening do, but much as I wanted to like it, I always found the decor rather kitsch (but not in a good way) and the food never really lived up to (my) expectations :(

The place never really felt quite right somehow :(

Good friendly service though.

A boarded up shop is the only source of Hope, Excitement and Expectation for some people...

Trying to find what it will become ? When will it open ?

I've heard it's gonna be this. I've heard it's gonna be that.

Are peoples live really that Dull ?

It's a forum. People chat about stuff. Most chat is trivial.

And in that vein, I'd like to throw in the possibility that Nando's might be interested in this space - it's big and near to the new cinema. Or maybe even Pizza Express. I wouldn't want either, but I suspect my desires count for nothing.

Slagging you off? Genuine LOL at that. Someone disagreeing about a bike shop is slagging you off? And pointing out that you're pretty much the most miserable, negative poster on here is slagging you off as well? Behave yourself, Dulwichfox.

    • That is clearly not true. I see car drivers breaking the law on an hourly basis - jumping red lights, speeding, not obeying the general rules. Plus they are operating considerably more dangerous machinery and should have a greater responsibility of care to other road uses. You can see who causes the most harm by the stats.
    • Looking for a suit for an 11 year old. Quite specific, white with black thin stripes.  Trying to replicate Michael Jacksons smooth criminal costume.  A blue linen shirt and white tie.    Thank you !!!!!!!
    • A quick Google found this, amongst other things: "Social impact models are frameworks or approaches that guide how organizations or initiatives address social or environmental problems."
    • "If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck then it must be a duck" comes to mind Unfortunately, a large number of cyclists do exhibit selfish amd anti social behaviour which, regardless of how many good cyclists there are, is seen as the norm.  It's a bit like one car driver jumping a red light and all car drivers getting tarred by the same brush. Perception is the issue and if cyclists all obeyed the rules, everyone would be less anti them but unfortunately that isn't the case 🤔
