Garden furniture, FENCES / Upcycled benches

Hello,

It may be a bit early in the year for this, but is anyone in the market for some new garden furniture?

I make benches, tables and planters using unwanted wooden pallets and am hoping to start selling them.

Everything would be made to a high standard in my brothers workshop using professional machinery and quality fastenings. The wood will be sanded to remove splinters and create a smooth texture.

I am happy to offer a free delivery service to customers living in SE London.

The photo below is my terrace last summer with the some benches and planter I made.

If you have any enquiries please contact me via [email protected]

Thanks for looking

Steve

hi Steven

these look brilliant; and there is scope to do so much, i've also seen people making shelving units, bar height tables from pallets...think it 's a great plan, so will keep your details! Do you have a good source of pallets by the way? Where i work in Deptford, we have a fair few going, so PM me and i can give you details!

Thanks for all your kind comments

I got most of my pallets from the archways in Bermondsey. Lots of small businesses round there seem to get stock delivered on them and then just leave them out by the bins. The best ones for building with have 2 or 3 thick struts running through them - these struts work well for making frames and legs. They're a bit rarer than the standard pallet so if you see any like that then let me know!

Thanks

Steve

  • 1 month later...

Hello everyone,

I've had quite a few enquiries about the cost of my pallet furniture so I plan to build some examples this weekend in order to create a price list with photos and measurements.

As well as the pallet furniture I am once again offering my services in other areas, specifically fences, flowerbeds, planters and other wood based construction.

My day rate is ?150 - for small jobs and repairs it's ?25 per hour - (plus materials)

If you'd like made-to-measure flowerbeds etc made from reclaimed pallets then obviously materials are free but I will still need to charge for the time it takes for me to gather them.

Here is my flyer! (all the photos are things i've built either myself or with my brother)

    • If you thought they were off, would it not have been a good idea to have kept them rather than throwing them away, as evidence for Environmental Health or whoever? Or indeed the shop? And do you mean this is the third time you have bought chicken from the same shop which has been off? Have you told the shop? Why did you buy it again if you have twice previously had chicken from there which was off? Have I misunderstood?
    • I found this post after we just had to throw away £14 of chicken thighs from Dugard in HH, and probably for the 3rd time. They were roasted thoroughly within an hour of purchase. But they came out of the oven smelling very woofy.  We couldn't take a single bite, they were clearly off. Pizza for dinner it is then. Very disappointing.
    • interesting read.  We're thinking about the same things for our kids in primary school as well. One thing I don't understand about Charter ED is whether they stream / set kids based on ability.  I got the impression from an open evening that it is done a little as possible. All i could find on-line was this undated letter - https://www.chartereastdulwich.org.uk/_site/data/files/users/18/documents/9473A8A3547CCCD39DBC4A55CA1678DC.pdf?pid=167 For the most part, we believe in mixed ability teaching and do not stream in Year 7 or Year 8. The only exceptions to this are that we have a small nurture class for Maths. This is a provision for students who scored lower than 85 in their SATS exams and is designed to support them to acquire the skills to access the learning in mainstream class. We do not have nurture classes for any other subjects. We take a more streamed - though not a setted - approach in Maths and Science from Year 9 onwards. though unsure if this is still accurate reflection of policy, and unsure of difference between streaming and setting.
    • Hello, I'm looking for an entertainer for my 9 year old son's birthday party. Looking for someone who can organise some games for the kids as my son and his friends are quite active. Regards, Sue
