Adventure bar - East Dulwich (Lounged when no longer about same)

I emailed the company a while back and they said it should be ready come August as they are knocking out the back and extending it.

Won't be a patch on the Inside 72. Lordship Lane could do with a rockier/indie type place instead of another cocktail bar. I think we are quite fine with the Black Cherry and Liquorish. But that's just my two cents

Hope the above was helpful matey

Ideally I'd like a cocktail bar that's bigger than the old 72 but still plays decent music like 72 used to. Looked at their website and they say Kaisrer chiefs and Queen and Scissor Sisters will be on the playlist. Ugh! They should have stolen 72's cds

i've just checked out the website too and James i think you're being a little unfair -you didnt post the whole thing

"Modern anthems from Razorlight, Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys and Scissor Sisters, all the way back to classic tunes by Queen, Michael Jackson, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones."

i don't know about you but i quite like razorlight, the rolling stones, michael jackson

lets give them a chance....?

Much as I'd love a bar that played nothing but the likes of Under Byen, Envelopes and Esmerine, I suspect it'd have a cast of regulars of 1.

If we as a loyal customer base encourage more of the Rolling Stones and less of the Mika we could influence musical policy...money talks.

One of the best things about the 72 was the music, it was great sitting in there having a drink while the bar staff put on what they wanted to play, rather then having a pre-arranged playlist being pumped through like you get in most bars nowadays. At the risk of getting a little misty eyed, i remember sitting at the bar, having a pint and listening to the entire Grace album by Jeff Buckley one time...not many bars can offer that.

Would be nice to have a jukebox, but i can't imagine that sitting to well a cocktail bar environment. I'm all up for giving adventure bar a fair go, i just think, given my recce on their website, that the 72 had a little more individuality to it. i bit of grunge to it and a bit of bite. Still, it's gone now so lets see what the new peeps bring in

I'm prepared to give them a chance. Some chains are better than others. Just as some girls are bigger than others. Some girls' mothers are bigger than other girls' mothers.

(Excuse me while I reminisce about Inside 72's excellent music policy)

Oh cool - I used to go there the whole time, when I was with the ex. They did fab cocktails and the owners were real nice. I hadnt gone in there for about 18 months, and when I walked in, they still remembered my fav drink!!

I used always recommend the place to people...

I f*#$ing hate Razorlight! Pre-planned playlist! Now if we sit in there the way we used to sit in I72, how many times will we hear it go round? I can only speak for my own 'we' of course, but its not the type of 'we' to pop in for a couple of drinks. Even when I72 wasn't as good as it used to be, the music was still.

Still, give it a go, benefit of the doubt, don't jump to conclusions etc....already know how it's going to turn out.

Lets stop mentioning the bar that was there before, I too was a big fan, but if it was being replaced by a book shop we wouldn't be drawing comparrisons, and it's not the new place's fault that the old place went...

I shall check it out, although, I totally agree with myrmidon that Lordship Lane needs rock!

Agreed - whilst the Cheltenham & Gloucester was a fine building society, I marginally preferred Inside 72. The music was certainly an improvement, as was the choice of alcoholic beverages. Who knows we (or some at least) may be pleasantly surprised by the newcomer. Probably best to give them a chance instead of burying them in ordure before they've opened.

    • That's a good idea smiley blue , if you or anyone else comes across petitions to end these despicable acts of cruelty to defenceless animals please put on here or start a new thread if you please so we can sign the petition and add our objections to this , I would also like to thank all of you the people for reading these messages and adding your voices to this cruelty,  maybe we can end it
    • Malumbu, by that measure are police efforts to cut down on anti-social driving by issuing tickets and fines a token effort as well? Surely punitive measures for cyclists breaking the rules will encourage them not to break the rules again? A bit like when you got stopped and taken into the cab of an HGV. The police are currently using that tactic to show those who break the rules cycling that it might lead them to being hit by a lorry due to the driver's having limited vision - the cycling equivalent of a speed awareness course for drivers.    When they stopped you was it because you had broken a rule or was it just more of an education programme and they asked you to take a look and did it change your cycling behaviour in any way? As I said previously there are those who break the rules on cycling out of ignorance (and those out of arrogance) and I am sure they are using HGVs to educate those in the ignorance category and then hitting those in the arrogance category with the PCNs.
    • Good that PETA is on it but can we add our voices to the fight against this horrible practice? I’m still shocked! A petition maybe? Happy to raise to the RSPCA but don’t want to duplicate efforts. I’ve signed campaigns from RSPCA before which sends it directly to your councillor
    • Yes, I'm aware of that. I believe the brood was five to begin with. However they are almost adult size now so not the prey of rats any longer.
