Street Cycle Store (at the end of Thorncombe Road)

They aren't exactly pretty, but then staring out at a battered old van isn't necessarily any better (although I agree I wouldn't want it right outside my front door).

I've seen some of the Lambeth ones have had trees planted either side which makes them look more appealing (see: http://www.cyclehoop.com/product/cycle-shelters-and-canopies/bike-hangar/ )

Over all though, they've got to be a good thing.

We're trying to get them placed outside people who have requested them.

Lambeth now has over 150 of these installed. Southwark is aiming for another 89 to add to 11. With the right scale this could become a strategic transport project and that is the angle I've taken with council officials.

With regard to attractiveness. Lambeth in some cases have bookened them with street streets in the road. Seems a great way of doing it.

You're lucky, to the best of my knowledge all we have in Ulverscroft Road so far is a barrier which has been leaning against a wall for ages with a scrappy bit of paper on saying the space is reserved for a bike hangar.

Which is rather frustrating when I've been waiting for it for around two years now and getting older and older :))

Well that's is fine if you are happy to have it placed directly outside your house.. where you normally park your car.

    • Labour are proposing to nationalise the railways, (passenger trains but not fright)  Whilst it removes them from shareholders control, and potential profit chasing, is it workable or will it end up costing tax payers more in the long run?  On paper the idea is interesting but does it also need the profitable freight arm included to help reduce fares,?
    • Another recommendation here for Jason.  He came to plaster over a section of ceiling that we had to remove in order to investigate a leak.  He is a really lovely guy, easy to get in touch with and great communication.  He was quick, tidy and competitively priced.  Very happy and I'd have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone.
