Big M motor spares

Recommended Posts

Hi, I heard a rumour that the renovation to Big M Motor Spares and the flats above will include a tyre yard out the back (access via Landells Rd). I'm a resident of Landells Road and a couple of years ago (yes the building work has been going on that long!), I asked the buidling site manager what the plans were, he said gardens out back with some car-parking. Anyone know what is really going on there?

Thanks.

Not heard anything, but I think I saw this weekend that there is a big extension being built out back.

There is still plenty of space left after the extension and we were left wondering what they intend doing with that space.

I can't really imagine the devloper putting gardens there unless they really can't get out of it - most developers try to get every inch of the land generating money.

Parking would be good for the flats above the shops - but there looks to be much more space than a developer would want to devote to solely parking.

If you know the address of the motor palce, ring up the council (0207 525 2000) and ask to be put through to the Planning Dept. They are always very helpful telling the public what applications have been put in.

    • That is clearly not true. I see car drivers breaking the law on an hourly basis - jumping red lights, speeding, not obeying the general rules. Plus they are operating considerably more dangerous machinery and should have a greater responsibility of care to other road uses. You can see who causes the most harm by the stats.

    • A quick Google found this, amongst other things: "Social impact models are frameworks or approaches that guide how organizations or initiatives address social or environmental problems."
    • "If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck then it must be a duck" comes to mind Unfortunately, a large number of cyclists do exhibit selfish amd anti social behaviour which, regardless of how many good cyclists there are, is seen as the norm.  It's a bit like one car driver jumping a red light and all car drivers getting tarred by the same brush. Perception is the issue and if cyclists all obeyed the rules, everyone would be less anti them but unfortunately that isn't the case 🤔
