Best pub grub... for a gloomy Thursday night.

We've been to Magnolia and The Plough recently for grub, both of which were good... where would you suggest to try tonight??

What's The Clockhouse like for food?

Swiss family Oldie were thinking of going to Springers tonight for a steak. The Dook sounds good though. Went to the Palm last week, excellent but quite expensive.

I like the Rye, or if you want to go out of area for the night, try their sister pub the Bridge in penge... only a 197 bus ride away ...

Hit the Duke, still quiet but really really nice in these winter months with all the fires going and tea lights everywhere.

Went on the first recommendation from EDOldie! Springers.

Food was excellent. Nice wee wine bar. A little pricey, but not too bothered about that as the food was delicious. Definitely one to go back to.

We must have been there at the same time. We had the fillet steak, which, although expensive, must be the best in the area by far.

I'll have to give Springers another go. I went there last year and the food was terrible. My chicken was swimming in fat and they didn't have two of the wines I asked for on their list.

the Rye Hotel is good and so is the Montpelier in Choumert Road, or how about the Herne (owned by same people as Palmerston but cheaper simpler food) all of these are cosy and local with good food for a Autumn nosh up... happy eating

Clockhouse is rubbish for food. Went for sunday lunch. Veg was overcooked, meat looked and tasted processed, potatoes and yorkshire pud frozen.
