May I ask why you sent this reply to my post as a PM????? Trying to plug your own business I suspect.
In fact you sent me TWO private messages because you forgot to put the link to your 'cooked' site.
If you want to promote your business please do so in the correct section on the forum.

I literally pressed the wrong button, calm down. I don't own Cook, wish I did I would be loaded (in fact, not overly keen on the place but would be better than Planet Organic which is full of fake healthy products and 'organic' produce shipped from the other side of the world)

It’s now to let as an A1 retail property so I assume this means the application to change to A3 was rejected?

HI Deanna,
I lodged, when I was still a councillor, a request for the planning application to be called in if officers were minded to grant permission for A3 use.
I asked officers for the report they suggested they had showing Lordship Lane is well above 50% shop use - as past planning applications officers produced reports that we were right on the border of this. We have local policies to not allow fewer than 50% shop units.
So good to see one of my and former Cllr Rosie Shimell last acts worked.

Rumoured to be a Superdrug?!

I hope so, I’m a big fan (except when they try to sell you other stuff at check out!)

Fair enough but already have Lloyds on Nx and Co-op next door.

I understand the rules about having over 50% retail .. but it seems to the council would rather something remained empty for a decade than have the 'wrong' class of establishment in it. I don't understand how threshers and the like can be an empty eyesore for years with no issues .. but a restaurant can't open where a shop was. If we really want to protect lordship lane the council need to look at rent control and empty units as well as usage classes. ( i realise the rent control bit is a pipe dream )

Looks like some work is going on at Threshers now, finally.

Oh no, I really hope not.

Doesn't feel like it would fit in with Lordship Lane at all.

Had hoped for an independent, or at least a smaller chain than Superdrug.

Judging by the noticeboard outside Londis saying ‘To Let’, I don’t think it’s currently going to be anything without anyone renting the building!

That must have been empty 15 years!

I heard a 'chemist' rumour about the Londis site too. I agree Superdrug seems an odd fit for LL, though I'm sure I'll end up using it (Lloyds is good but has a rather limited selection of products and that Co-op chemist is hopeless and should be put out of its misery - you never see anyone in it).

messageRe: Change to restaurant old Londis
Posted by Callie 13 December, 2018 15:48

there hasn't been a co-op chemist for years, it's Sogim. Co-op chemist used to be good much better than Sogim

Ah sorry, hadn't noticed the change of hands. Either way, it's one of the most depressing shops on LL. Wish someone would take that one over as it's a big space. Anyway, don't mean to derail thread... Wonder if the Superdrug rumour is true? I'd been hoping for Boots if it was to be a chain chemist as I like their skincare range!

There was a Boots chemist in Sainsbury’s Dog Kennel Hill years ago. I seem to remember it occupied the space where Starbucks is now but it didn’t get a licence so it closed.

I remember the Boots being smaller than Starbucks which replaced it.

Ideally Lloyds would move down from North Cross Road to the Londis site. It's a well used chemist and tons better than Sogim where I went once and was told that the pharmacist was off.

Hi shell,
If a shop unit isn't let over time then the landlord is trying to get too much rent. Really simple economics. Often an owner will inflations the rent they ask for so that after two years they say it was unsettable as a shop. They then seek change of use from a shop to a more profitable use. IT too many do this then the high street loses its purpose and footfall declines killing it.
50% is super important threshold.

I'm very surprised if that is true.

I sincerely hope not. Many of the Boots stores seem to be horrible soulless places, and I've never been able to understand how the chain struggles on sad smiley

Any news on this. The builders are in, the hoardings are down... so who’s moving in?

With Boots stores nearby in Forest Hill, Brixton and Peckham and Boots currently closing many stores
Also with Lloyds Pharmacy just 100 mtres away. I find this a little unlikely.

But what do I know. ?

Whilst I hope it isn't a Boots, I very much doubt anybody living in East Dulwich would go to Forest Hill, Brixton or Peckham just to shop in a Boots!.

No, but people do go to Forest Hill, Brixton and Peckham to shop and do use Boots while they are there.
Apart from restaurants there are no real shopping facilities in East Dulwich.

"Apart from restaurants there are no real shopping facilities in East Dulwich".

Eh? There's M&S, the Co-op, Sainsbury's, Lloyds, two other pharmacies, Organic Village, Moxons, William Rose, three DIY shops, Blackbird bakery, a cobbler, a florist, at least two newsagents, two bookshops, several clothes shops, a shoe shop, at least two dry cleaners, at least two off licences, at least two plant shops, a toy shop, You can buy art materials now in Willows. Several gift shops. Farmers, which sells just about everything .. Many more, that's just off the top of my head.

What do you define as "real shopping facilities", Dulwich Fox?

My partner says you have to go to Camberwell for a record shop, is that what you had in mind?
