reds
Heard that this is set to open on Lordship Lane. Great news as it will be run by the same people as the Crofton Park one which is fantastic.
BrandNewGuy
Good news ? and confirmed on Twitter by Penge's Southey Brewing, who also run the Brighton Beer Dispensary:https://southeybrewing.co.uk/

Applespider
I'm excited! I love a good tap room style bar.Although having looked at the twitter feed, I'm now seriously tempted to track down some of Siren's Gin and Tonic Gose!
bradc07
They are taking over Barcelona (the tapas place that closed down). I've heard it should be ready to open by next month! Can't wait.
ruffers
As a resident of Melford Road this sounds like great news if it all turns out to be true.

fishbiscuits
I'd really question the viability of it, so far off the beaten track. But yeah, great news if you live in the no-mans-land between East Dulwich and Forest Hill, and like beer.

jimbo1964
It's not off the beaten track for people that live there. Currently no pub between The Plough and Forest Hill.

JohnL
And if you're walking to the old FHT (blast from the past - now the WGT ) - it's a stop over :)

fishbiscuits
Inevitably those who live nearby will defend the location.Sorry, it's still going to be a difficult site.
Gubodge
The site can?t be that difficult given that Barcelona, despite being rubbish, was successful there for at least 15 years.
DulwichSal
If it is indeed happening it is a long way off - I walked past last night and it is still full of Barcelona's old toot and no sign of any works happening.
Siduhe
It depends what you mean by a difficult site - it won't be close to the rest of the bars and restaurants on Lordship Lane so they won't get as much passing business or people stopping in before going to the cinema or on to eat. At the same time, there's a huge amount of homes nearby - the LL Estate, Underhill/Overhill/Melford/SC end of Wood Vale/Horniman that don't have anywhere to drink within a 10 minute walk. Come up with something that appeals to the local residents rather than passing trade and it will do well. I don't think it's about "defending" the location - more that most of us would love somewhere to go out for a beer that involved a short walk - the Grove was always busy before it shut after the fire and Barcelona was averagely busy considering it wasn't great at food (I do miss the sangria though). bradc07
The word is that it's going to open next month. I've seen work going on inside and I really can't wait. As others have said there is nothing between the Plough and Forest Hill and I can't wait. A little worried about the time I might spend in there...
