A decent Sandwich

Recommended Posts

why is there such a lack of decent Lunch Haunts in East Dulwich? I lived in the area for about 10 years, and to be honest in that time.... there hasnt really been a good simple sandwich shop opened.

Where can you get the best sandwich in East Dul?

my top 5 (in no particular order):

Cafe 2050 (goat cheese, tapenade & salad on ciabatta)

Jack's (swedish meatball and beetroot sandwich on roll)

Blackbird (meal deal: sandwich, cake and coffee for ?5)

il Mirtro (ciabatta, mozzarella and salad)

Luca's (ham and cheese on ciabatta or focaccia - NB you have to tell them if you don't want it toasted!)

A very decent sandwich can be enjoyed in the new cafe that has opened up opposite the Plough in what was I think the old electrics shop. It is part owned by the people that run Gastronomia (West Dulwich/Herne Hill). Coffee is also very good, and they have a tiny wee garden to enjoy this lovely sun as well. Shall become my new haunt when I'm too lazy to walk down the hill to Jacks which is still the best - i have to have their chicken liver pate at least once a week or I get withdrawal symptoms.
