Antisocial behaviour

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

New member of the site, have been living in ED since May (Copleston Rd) and generally loving it.

However last night was woken up by a car driving down the road slowly and repeatedly sounding its horn. About 1:30am. It's a one way road but he must have been round the block a couple of times as it went on just long enough to wake up my 4 month old baby.

I can see myself getting just about wound up enough to go outside and 'have a word' one day...probably result in my being stabbed or whatever but who the f--- thinks this is acceptable behaviour?

No particular point to this posting other than getting this off my chest and sharing...

Cheers,

Joel

Hi Joel, sorry to hear that, it's annoying enough any time of day let alone the early hours of the morning. Was it a mini-cab driver, they have a habit of beeping their horns until they get a response, especially if the driver isn't sure of the house? We get quite a bit of it opposite where we live as there are a number of really big houses split into flats, but it usually occurs early evening. Hope it doesn't happen again.

east dulwich station end, just opposite Hayes Grove (the newish housing estate). Thanks for your comments all, it does happen just a little bit too often for my liking. I have called the police twice on their non-emergency peckham station no. in the last 6 months for similar stuff. Once when a guy pulled up outside, well a couple of houses down, and parked and and sounded the horn repeatedly for 20 mins at 3am. Police car came immediately (fair play to em) and 'moved him on'.

Last night, was not a mini cab, was a small car full of young guys and playing some incredibly loud music, which only lasted 15 seconds or so. Then the horn stuff.

In the past I lived next door in a different area to a guy in a flat who was dealing. For 6 months there were people outside his flat all through the night at about half hour intervals shouting his name. He would drop the keys down as he was on the top floor. Drove me insane through lack of sleep. He eventually went to prison. The whole property had some very troublesome tenants in it. I sympathise.

Hi Joel_mole,

Probably a good idea to tell the South Camberwell ward Safer Neighbourhood Team about every indicent as they cover your road. They're not 24/7 but they will work is crime and anti social behaviour reduction and look for patterns etc. They'd probably benefit from any numbers plate information.

Contact details for them are.

    • I think insurance scams do happen but I thought there had been a crackdown on them recently. In the past insurance companies seemed to just pay out and everyone's premium goes up to cover it. My partner was a victim a few years ago, she was parking and touched a bumper of the next car. There was no mark and the other driver just waved my partner away. A month later we received a letter claiming there were four people in the other car and two of them were so badly injured they could not work. Our insurer was a rare one that actually fought the case and pretty much on the steps of the court the scammers "dropped hands" and case was closed. i thought at the time that was a good result but I later saw that my insurer had run up a £2000 legal bill and didn't get to ask for costs as there was no court case – we didn't have to pay it but again, it's this sort of thing that pushes all premiums up. And no action was taken against the other party despite them clearly being scammers who were revealed to have done this before and had effectively admitted their own statements were a pack of lies. Sorry to hijack your thread, just getting this off my chest as your post brought it all flooding back!

    • Our child is in their last term at Goose Green, and after 7 wonderful years we are very sad to be leaving such a wonderful school and it’s special community. Being 2 form entry, It’s one of the smaller schools in the area and it’s also very diverse with an amazing spirit. Brilliant Art and Music departments, staff and a new library.
