I'm sure someone must have mentioned this site before. You can track actual flights over East Dulwich, usually with a 1 day security delay. Details include:- Flight id, Aircraft type, speed, height and the colour of the pilot's pajamas. The last few days have been quiet over ED but if you look back, say 25th August, you'll get a clear idea just how busy this approach is.

i live in the Bellenden area and the flight noise has got progressively worse over the years, one of my neighbours found this online map that showed flight paths over london and it turned out that they just happened to be FIVE flight path all coming together right over our street (all stacking from 4.30 in the morning to come into land at 5.00). It has got so bad that you have to keep turning the telly up and down if you have the windows open in the evening and i wake every morning at 4.30ish when they start stacking!!! horrid horrid horrid, but we (neighbours) decided that apart from contatcing our councilors and MP (Harriet Harmen) and joining any action groups, there was little we could do... we are pretty pessimistic about our voices being heard (excuse the pun)... they are also thinking of 24hr flight access to London airport....HELP!!!!!

below is section form the Bellenden Residents Newletter in case anyone wants to try and up the pressure on government...

"Aircraft Noise in Peckham

Stephen Hodge from Blenheim Grove writes: ?Residents in this area can hardly have failed to notice the unpleasantly high levels and increased frequency of noise pollution due to incoming aircraft heading towards Heathrow. This results from ever-increasing numbers of aircraft using Heathrow. The corridors for inbound air traffic have the heaviest use when, around 70% of the time, the prevailing wind blows from the west, with planes flying over at less than 2 minute intervals. To give residents of boroughs nearer to Heathrow some respite from the noise pollution, the north and the south runways at Heathrow are used in rotating daily shifts - "runway alternation". To pack still more aircraft into Heathrow, the Government and the BAA are proposing to end runway alternation, so aircraft will land and take-off from the same runway throughout the day. This will result in virtually non-stop noise pollution. The Government consultation period for this proposal ends in June, but little publicity has been given to it. Instead of the runway alternation system being discontinued it should be extended to cover more of south London. Separately and perhaps even worse, the possibility of permitting flights continuously 24-hours into Heathrow is mooted. This is being discussed by the EU and the US, and will result in a treaty binding upon the UK, which will not be subject to local environmental regulations. All complaints and objections thereafter will be addressed by an unelected three-person committee outside Britain.?

For further details of all this see the ?HACAN ClearSkies? web-site: www.hacan.org.uk If you are concerned, support HACAN and become a local contact: email: [email protected] , and contact your local elected representatives before it is too late. You could say you oppose the ending of the runway alternation system and want it to be extended, and oppose the new treaty arrangements on 24 hour continuous flights. Email addresses:
